Glass Onion Review

So I saw Glass Onion, and here's my review of it...I liked it, but I liked the first film more. The film follows Detective Benoit Blanc on a new case where he is invited to this billionaire's resort. It's another murder mystery of who did it, and shocking secrets are revealed about the host and guests. I enjoyed this film, and I liked the first film more, but this film did surprise me with some shocking twists. The cast did a great job, Daniel Craig, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Katheryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Leslie Odom Jr, Jessica Henwick, and Madelyn Cline. Everyone did an excellent job in their roles. The film's ending surprised me, and I was like, wow, that was insane. 

I give Glass Onion a 7 out of 10. 

My Violent Night Review

Violent Night 

So I saw Violent Night, and here's my review of it...I love it. This will be a Christmas classic I will watch every Christmas. David Harbor's Santa is fantastic, and he's so funny too. The opening with him is so funny, and I just gut-laughed at him being drunk on Christmas. In the film, Santa has to save this family from a group of mercs who want to steal the mother's 300 million dollars from her secret vault. The group leader is named Scourge, played by John Leguizamo, and he's fantastic in the film. The whole cast was great in this film, and Leah Bradley, who played Trudy, was great too. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when they re-in-act the Home Alone traps; this time, it's bloody and gory like it would be in real life. I will tell people that some violent scenes are gruesome to watch, so heads up. 

I really like how this film includes Norse Mythology for Santa's origin.  

I had a good time with this film, and I hear they are working on a sequel, and I like that idea. I give this film an 8 out of 10. It's a great Christmas film, and who doesn't want to see jolly old saint Nick just destroy some mother fuckers.

DCU New Trinity Fan Cast

So with James Gunn now running DC, it was announced that Henry Cavil would no longer play Superman. This upset many people and me, but Henry will be starting in the Warhammer series. So Henry will be all right, but he did deserve better. I know many people don't like what James Gunn is doing, and I understand, but I do trust James Gunn. He does have a good plan for DC. He is writing a Superman reboot, and he says it will be about a young Superman, hopefully not too young. He also confirmed it won't be an origin story.

Sadly, these three never got a chance to shine together again.

Now there was some news that DC and WB are doing a complete reboot, so everyone is out except for The Batman franchise, which won't be in the DCU, Shazam, and Blue Beetle. Everyone from the Synderverse is gone. I did hear that Ben is going to make a DC film. It's a rumor, but it could happen. Still, if Gunn is going to reboot the Trinity and build a proper ten-year plan, here's what he should do for Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. 

Superman 

Now Gunn is writing a Superman reboot so far. We know it's not a retelling of the character's origin.

It will focus on a young Superman, and one fan pointed out they might be looking at Earth One Superman for ideas. 

If this is true, this could work. If it's a Superman inspired by Earth One, that's fine but adapt a popular Superman storyline to go with it. 

However, Superman, for a good reboot, doesn't retell his origin story. Make it more fun and light-hearted, and write the character as a positive character who never gives up. However, he knows he can't save everyone. Still, he doesn't give up because his parents told him not to give up and that there is good in this world that we must keep fighting for, and he believes he's here for a reason. Also, I recommend adapting the Brainiac storyline arc because that would be a good storyline to adapt.

Brainiac was going to be the villain in Man of Steel 2, apparently.

Another thing is focused on his job at the Daily Planet and his supporting cast. 

Now for Superman casting, I recommend going with an actor in his late 20s to early 30s for the role. I know Gunn is looking at a young actor, but an actor in his late 20s to early 30s is young. 

Superman will be the face of the DCU, and you need to get a good actor, someone as good as Henry, to take over the role. 

I would go with also known or unknown for the role my choice to take over as Superman would have to be David Corenswet. 

This guy is a big fan of the role of Superman. He does look like the character of Superman. 

Batman

Now Gunn has confirmed that Robert's Batman will not be the Batman of the DCU. This is a good thing because that Batman wouldn't work in this universe. However, what type of Batman will we get in this universe. 

James Gunn confirmed that his Batman is a major player in the DCU.

Now the question is what makes him different from Robert's Batman. Has this Batman been Batman for a longer time? Does he already have the Bat Family and Rogues established? Is he a dark Batman or a darker Batman? Will he have experience fighting aliens and monsters and gods like Darkseid? 

These are all excellent questions. 

This Batman needs to be more experienced, and he's been fighting crime for a while.

He's been a hero for a while, and we do have the Bat Family established in this universe. He's already got Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Robin, and Red Hood. He's fought most of his rogues like Joker, Riddler, Bane, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, and many more. 
 In The Batman, he's been Batman for three years, and the Bruce Wayne of the DCU has been Batman for a while, like for five or six years. 

Now for Batman casting, I would cast an actor in his early 30s to late 30s. We've had so many Batmen on screen, and I find it harder to find a new actor to play this iconic character. If I were to cast Batman, I would cast Scott Eastwood.

I know Scott is my top choice to play Wolverine in the MCU, but if not, he would make a good Batman. 

Wonder Woman 

Now it is likely Gal Gadot will be let go as Wonder Woman since Patty Jenkins left after Wonder Woman 3 talks went under. Let's face it Wonder Woman 84 was awful, and Gal's cameo in the Flash has been cut. 

 Gunn will likely reboot Wonder Woman. 

However, how will Gunn reboot Diana Prince? He won't retell her origin, but it's possible he might just make the film a soft reboot, and the first Wonder Woman is still canon, but this is a proper sequel to Wonder Woman. Like instead of a wishing stone and setting in the 80s. It should be set in modern times and have Wonder Woman face off against a proper Cheetah who can be her Joker.  Have Diana get with Steve Trevor's descended Steve Rockwell Trevor instead of that wishing crap. 

This reboot could also build up Donna Troy, Wonder Girl, Artemis, and Jason. Give us the Wonder Woman Family.

This film could have ARGUS from Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Knowing Gunn, he will make those series part of the DCU. However, I don't know what they will do with Wonder Woman, just don't re-tell her origin story. Have the character already established and give the character a better-written film.

Now, if I were to recast Wonder Woman in this universe, I would cast an actress in her mid-20s to mid-30s. 

I would choose Adelaide Kane

I recast Daisy Ridley with Adelaide Kane.

That's who I would cast as the DCU Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. 

 I trust James Gunn, and I will admit I am still sad for Henry Cavil not getting another chance as Superman, but he's got Warhammer happening, so he will be okay.

Justice League Fan Cast Reboot

and My thoughts on James Gunn's plans for DC.

So ever since James Gunn was announced as head of DC films.

We've seen a lot of stuff happen like they have canceled Wonder Woman 3 after Patty walked out over creative differences, Man of Steel 2 is canceled, Jason Momoa is switching roles from Aquaman to Lobo, Batman Beyond film gets canceled, and we just need to figure out what's going on. What is the big plan for DC?

So far, many fans like or hate what James is doing, but we have yet to see what James will announce.

He will announce his DC ten-year plan. We may or may not like it, depending on how it's planned out.

Whatever he announces soon will give us a proper DC Cinematic Universe. 

I want to see a good Justice League film, but I want it to be in the same style as the Justice League Animated Series. Gunn may do that, but we shall see.

James Gunn has said that some of the news reported is true, half true, and not true.

Still, here is my fan cast for a Justice League Reboot in the DCU. 

Henry Cavil as Clark Kent/Superman 

Sadly, I hope Henry is coming back as Superman because we are not getting Man of Steel 2, but I believe Henry will play Superman again. Except it will be more of a soft reboot of the character. I'm okay with that direction for the character. Superman needs to get better filmmakers who better understand the character, and they need to make the film fun and light-hearted and write a character who never gives up and stays positive. We just need to get this character right, an inspiring character that brings hope and sets him up to be the leader of the Justice League. 

Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Now Batman is a big question. We know Matt Reeves is still making his sequel and expanding on his universe. However, I think Matt has agreed to a deal to keep his Batman and his upcoming projects in the Batman. They might reboot Ben's Batman with a new actor because he's done after Flash and his Batman got cut from Aquaman 2. Many fans would be mixed on this idea of Robert's Batman being the Batman of the DCU. Some fans are for it, and some aren't. It really depends on what James Gunn announces for the character. It also depends if they made a good deal with Matt Reeves to use the character or just make a Batman film series in the DCU. 

Could we have two Batman franchises? It depends on what James's plans will be for the character of Batman. We might get a different Batman whose been Batman longer and has the Bat family established. 

Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman 

Now they have canceled Wonder Woman 3 because, as we know, 84 was terrible, and I heard Patty left because she didn't like what the studio wanted for the third film. After all, they didn't like 84 either. So they will do like Henry. They will do a soft reboot of the character and make a new film that recons 84. 

George MacKay as Barry Allen/The Flash

WB will recast Flash after the Erza Miller drama, and I hope they go to jail because they are scum. It's been reported that WB wants 1917 and Captain Fantastic star George Mackay to take over as Flash. He would be a better replacement and looks like Barry Allen. 

Trevante Rhodes as John Stewart/Green Lantern 

With the Green Lantern show in the works, it will change its focus from Alan Scott and Guy Garner to John Stewart. John Stewart's Green Lantern is a character we all grew up with on the Justice League show, and a show about him is a better idea. However, I still hope for a good reboot of Hal Jordan in the future because that character needs to get done right after 2011. Trevante Rhodes is my first choice for the role because he was excellent in Predators and Moonlight. He would be perfect for John Stewart.  

Eiza Gonzalez as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl

Since Hawkman debuted in Black Adam, I hear there are talks for a Hawkman movie now since he was one of the best characters in the film. Hawkgirl will be in the next movie, and that film could set her up to join the Justice League, not the Justice Society, where her husband is the leader of the JS. Eliza Gonzalez will be a good choice for her performance in Baby Driver. 

Sterling K. Brown as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter 

Martian Manhunter will likely appear in a future film, maybe even a Justice League film. The character did appear in the Synder Cut, but they will actually have him help the team fight bad guys. In my opinion, Sterling K Brown is the best choice to play Martian Manhunter. I loved his performance in the People Vs. Oj Simpson. He would be an excellent Martian Manhunter.

So that's my Justice League Cast. Let me know what you think of this cast. I wonder if they will do this because it depends on what James Gunn has planned, and it may not be this.   

Pinocchio Review

 

My review of Dele Toro's Pinocchio

So I saw Del Toro's Pinocchio, and here's my review of it...it was amazing. This film was one of the best films I've seen this year. I was blown away by the animation; the story itself is so deep and emotional. This movie was excellent. There is so much heart put into this movie, and Dele Toro, one of my favorite directors, does it again. This is one of the best-animated films I've seen since Sea Beast. 

The clay animation is fantastic in this film. 

The cast of this film all do a great job, Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, and Christoph Waltz. Everyone was amazing voicing their characters, and one funny thing is that Cate Blanchett voices a monkey that doesn't talk. Pretty funny casting, but it was brilliant. 

Del Toro has been working on this film since 2008.

Del Toro does it again. 

This film was full of emotion and had some funny moments, but it's not like the original book. It's a darker film set in the 1940s during WW2. It deals with story elements of fathers and sons, death and loss, and how everything happens for a reason. This film's ending is very sad. I won't get anything away, but it's very bittersweet, and you will feel sad after watching the movie. However, this is still a fantastic film, and I loved it. Also, this film is a musical; the songs are very catchy and well-written. 

I loved this film, and I got to tell you it is so much better than that live-action remake crap we got from  Disney. Seriously, enough of the remakes of great Disney films. 

Seriously, that remake was crap. 

This is why Disney needs to hire talented writers like Del Toro to make their remakes. 

I give Pinocchio a 9 out of 10 and a solid A+.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

My review of GOFTG Holiday Special.

So I saw Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special last week, and here is my review of it...I loved it. It was such a fun special to watch, and it gets you into the Christmas spirit. The story is about Mantis and Drax trying to cheer up Starlord since Gamora is dead, and in the past, Gamora doesn't like him. Poor Starlord can't catch a break. So they go to earth to bring Kevin Bacon to meet Starlord. It's so funny seeing Drax and Mantis interact with the people of earth. I especially love it when Drax shits on actors and thinks their worst humans. Kevin Bacon is so funny in this, and it's so funny when he's in outer space with the Guardians. I especially found it funny when Starlord thinks it's Gamora, but it's Kevin Bacon, and he's mad about it. However, Kevin Bacon gets everyone into the Christmas spirit, all the Guardians get gifts from each other, and Starlord gets the best gift of all, but I'm not going to spoil it. Also, Groot is big again, and he's one of the best characters in the whole film. 

This film also has Cosmo the dog in the movie, and she's joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. The ending of the special was sweet, and I'm not going to spoil anything because it will lead up to Vol 3. 

Drax and Mantis are at their best in this film.

They are so funny together. 

I really enjoyed this special, and this special had funny moments that made me laugh. I give this special an 8 out of 10. 

I hope these characters all get good send-offs. 

What I want to see for these characters is this.

1. Starlord gets redemption after Infinity War. 

2. Rocket learns his origin, and it looks like he will meet his love interest Lylla. 

3. Past Gamora rejoins and sees that Starlord is not an idiot. However, in the comics, she was in a romance with Adam Warlock. So we might see that in the film. 

4. Drax maybe reunites with his daughter if she's brought back to life

5. High Evolutionary needs to be a great villain that we hate. 

6. Show how powerful Adam Warlock is.

I like the look, and I just hope he's a very powerful character 

and they don't waste him.

This film is a warm-up for GOFTG Vol 3 because that will be the last film you see. After all, the next movie looks darker, and I think they will kill off more Guardians. I'm excited for Vol 3, the only film in Phase 5 I'm excited for, and the trailer looks promising, but Gunn got more freedom of control, making his last Guardians film since he's now head of DC films.
