Who I would pick as the MCU X-Men Team and who I would cast

After the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, I love this film. We are getting an X-Men film in the MCU, and it's likely not coming out until after Secret Wars. Now, I would prefer they make an X-Men TV Series instead of a movie because you can better flesh out the characters like 97 did.

This year has been a great year to be an X-Men fan. Well, the comics could be better right now. However, 97 and Deadpool and Wolverine are great. So when the MCU brings the X-Men, what team rooster should they have. The writer they have hired for the movie says he wants the 90s X-Men team rooster, which is a good idea, but there are too many X-Men members. That's why a show works better. Also, I heard there will be no Wolverine in the film, which is a smart move, and there were rumors they wanted it to focus on a female lead. This is fine, but after seeing She-Hulk and Cassie Lang, I have concerns that they will make Storm, Rogue, Kitty, or Jubliee unlikeable. I don't want that; I want a Storm who believes in Xavier's dream and is a hero we can all look up to. Also, it's a rumor that Jubilee, Ice Man, and Archangel will be on the team. That's cool. I want a proper Jubilee and Angel because they were wasted by Fox's X-Men. 

Now, these are rumors, and we don't know what's going to happen. If I were to pick a team rooster, I would go with a more original team. I would make it a six-member squad to make it easier.

The X-Men I would pick would be Cyclops (Team Leader), Storm (Second in Command), Gambit, Rogue, Angel, and Jubilee. I chose this team because these characters were wasted and could have gotten better character development. So that's why I picked these six X-Men to be the main focus of the first film. 

Robbie Amell as Cyclops 

Cyclops is the one X-Man who needs to be done right and stand out as the leader of the X-Men. The old X-Men films did the character dirty, and we need a Scott Summers who stands out and is the First X-Man. 

KiKi Layne as Storm 

Storm is another X-Man who needs to get her moment. Sure, the X-Men movies had her lead, but I feel like there was more they could have done. I would love to see T'Challa Romance and see her lead Team Gold in the future.

Austin Butler as Gambit 

Gambit wasn't used again after X-Men Origins until we got Channing Tatum as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine. I loved Channing as Gambit, but I think they will cast someone else for the MCU. I want to see Gambit be the bad boy of the group, and we all want that Rogue romance that we never got. 

Grace Caroline Curry as Rogue 

Rogue was not at her best in the films. All she did was complain about her powers. I want the 90s Rogue, basically 97 Rogue, on the big screen. I want her to be one of the most powerful heroes who can fly and has a romance with Gambit.

Alex Pettyfer as Angel 

Warren Worthington, the Third, aka Angel or Archangel, was not used at his best. In X-Men 3, he doesn't have a significant role, and in X-Men Apocalypse, he is killed off just like that and was never a member of the X-Men. We must see Angel at his best and set him up to become Archangel.

Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Jubilee 

Jubilee is a fan favorite of the series. She appeared in Apocalypse but didn't do much. Jubilee needs to get her moment to shine. She could be the team's youngest member; all she can do is sparks. However, there is more to her because we see her become a hero and a true X-Man. She looks up to Cyclops and Storm as role models to inspire her.  

If I were to cast the X-Men and had only six characters, that's who I would pick and cast. These six never got their moment to shine, so they would be the main focus of the first film.

Lion King celebrating 30 years of this incredible Disney film.

 

My Review of The Lion King

This marks the 30th anniversary of The Lion King, one of the greatest Disney films ever made. I have loved this movie since childhood, and it still holds up. It's a great film, actually based on Hamlet, with great characters and a great story.

The film, as we know, is about Simba, the next King of Pride Rock, and his coming-of-age story.

The opening of the film is iconic and perfectly animated, and the music in the background is incredible. I wish Disney would go back to this animation. Lion King was one of my favorite childhood films. It made me laugh at the edge of my seat and cry, especially with this scene. 

I cried so hard at this scene as a kid, and even as an adult, I cried watching it.

The film also has some great characters like Timon and Pumbaa, and I remember watching the TV show. 

These two are so funny, and they had me laughing. Who didn't love Hakuna Matata? It means no worries for the rest of your days. 

Also Zazu is another funny character in the film voiced by Mr. Bean. 

Simba and Nala's romance is one of the best romances in film. 

The film has other great songs, like Can You Feel the Love Tonight and I Just Can't Wait to Be King, and Hans Zimmer's music is always great to listen to. The songs are so memorable you can't forget the lyrics.  

Scar is one of the best characters in this film and one of the best Disney villains. 

Also, I can't help but feel bad for Scar when he dies. I mean, he is the villain of the film and one of the best Disney villains. His death scene in the movie was very dark. In fact, that's how Gaston was initially supposed to die in Beauty and the Beast, except it was with a pack of wolves. Scar is one of the best characters, and his song Be Prepared is a great villain song, but sadly, I consider it problematic for some reason.

Also the hyenas were good secondary villains and when they kill Scar it's dark. A lesson is never turn against your henchmen or there will be consequences. Still, Scar's death is horrible and with that prequel film coming out everyone is going to feel more sad for him. 

One of my favorite scenes is when Simba sees his father again. Mufasa tells Simba he has forgotten who he is and that he must return to Pride Rock to set things right. Remember who you are is a great line.

I especially love this scene with Simba and Rafkia, where they discuss the past. This scene gets to me now because I, like many others, who look back at our past. We look back on the mistakes we've made, the bad choices we made, and the wrong things we said or did. The past can hurt, but you must learn from it and improve next time. This film teaches us that when we make bad choices, we can always learn from them. It's a lot better than Letting the past die; kill it if you have to. 

I love the epic battle between Simba and Scar. Hans Zimmer's score in this scene is epic, and The Lion King's ending is epic on many levels. 

Lion King is still one of Disney's best films, and we all love it to this day. 

I give this film an A+. The cast of this film all do a great job like Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Moria Kelly, Whoopi Goldberg, James Earl Jones, the late Robert Guillaume and Madge Sinclair, Rowan Atkinson, Cheech Marin, and Ernie Sabella. 

We have more films and shows like Lion King 2, Lion King 1/2, Timon and Pumbaa, and The Lion Guard, and we have that live-action remake. Ugh. 

We are getting a Lion King Prequel film called Mufasa The Lion King.  

If this were an animated film, I would be excited because that's what it should be. Also, the plot is that Mufasa was adopted, and Scar actually was the rightful heir. It's just bad storytelling, and seriously, Disney, stop remaking great films. Write original stuff or remake bad films.

Review

So, I saw the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and here's my review. I had a great time watching this film. It's a good old action WW2 film based on the true story of this small black ops team during World War Two. Let me tell ya, this group of six soldiers is so fantastic. The action in the film is excellent, and the characters are so cool. Alan Ritchson's character uses a bow and arrows in the movie significantly. I hope he gets cast as Batman or Green Lantern. The rest of the film's cast, including Henry Cavil, was great, too. He was fantastic, as were Eiza Gonzalez, Henry Golding, Babs Olusanmokun, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes, and Cary Elwes. This film was fun to watch, and it's hard to believe it's based on a true story. I give this film an 8 out of 10. If you're looking for a fun time, I recommend this film. 

 

Twisters Review

My Twisters Review 

So, I saw Twisters last night, and here's my review. I liked this film because it was such a fun action film about twisters. This film is a sequel to the film Twister, except you don't need to watch the first film because there's no connection to the last film from 1995. The film had some tremendously intense, exciting scenes and was just a fun movie to watch. The film's cast did a great job; Glen Powell was great, Daisy Edgar was great, and the whole cast was great. It's funny seeing David Corenswet, who plays Superman next year in this film, as a real jerk. The story is excellent, and you feel good about this film's characters. Everyone is so likable except for Scott, played by David Corenswet. 

Twisters is a fun movie because it has no agenda-driven messages. The director of the film, Lee Isaac Chung, once said he didn't want any political agendas in this film because he just wanted to give the audience a fun time. Something we all want to see in the cinema again. Just story focus and character-driven films. 
I enjoyed Twisters, so I give it an 8 out of 10. It's a fun movie, and that's all it needs to be. 

 

The Mask Review Celebrating 30 Years of this classic.

 

My Review of The Mask

Here is my review of one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies, The Mask. This film was part of my childhood, and it was so funny and still is to this day. Based on the comics from Dark Horse, The Mask is about a magical mask created by Loki. Not the Loki we all know and love, but whoever puts it on at night turns into a green-faced wacky lunatic. Who saves the day or causes more chaos.

Now, quick fun fact: the comics were bloodier and more graphic. 

The film is about a down-on-his-luck guy named Stanley Ipkiss who has the worst luck with his job and dating life, and his landlord is a jerk. Until he finds the Mask and becomes the Mask. Now, the Mask is a neutral object. Whoever wears it can use it for good or for evil. If you read the comics, the Mask has been used for good and evil. 

That is one of the best catchphrases in the film. Still holds up. 

The film has some hilarious moments. Jim Carrey is so funny in this film, and his character is likable. It's weird because Stanley dies in the comics, and the Mask goes to someone, which is a pretty crazy fact about the comics. 

This film was also Cameron Diaz's big debut, and she was great. I remember watching this scene when I was a kid, and she one of my childhood crushes. 

LOL, I had the same reaction when I saw this scene.

In the film, the villain is Dorian, a mobster who is trying to take over Edge City and kill the mob boss, Niko. He eventually wears the Mask, which shows that it will serve anyone. 

I also found this scene scary because he looked so terrifying.  

This film has some great moments of music, and one scene I like is when he stops a group of thugs and decides he will become a superhero. However, instead, gets revenge on some lying mechanics who screwed him over. 

I love the scene with him at the park where he's caught by the police, and the detective sees his wife's photo. The two detectives in the movies, Mitch and Doyle, are so funny together, especially when Mitch says his name in a funny tone. Now, the Cuba Pete—that scene was so funny and brilliantly made. I love it, and this is what comes to mind when you think of this movie. Jim went all out like he nailed it.

This movie still holds up 30 years later, and it's a childhood favorite of mine. There was even a show in the 90s with Rob Paulsen as Stanley, which lasted for three seasons. It was a good show, and Rob Paulsen—I've met him great guy and nailed it as The Mask. Like he always does.

This is the sequel to Mask because we never got a Mask 2 with Jim Carrey. There were plans, but they didn't go through, so we got this...

Son of the Mask, UGH. 

It was a horrible movie, just awful. Even Jamie Kennedy made a documentary about this film. Look it up. 

That's me after seeing that movie.

I would love to see another Mask film, even a sequel to Jim's or a reboot, but there's a good chance they will mess it up, even if you have the writers of Deadpool. I did hear Jim, Cameron, and the original director were trying to make another, but it didn't go through. Like the comics, I've heard there are plans to reboot the Mask series to make it more mature, bloody, and gory. I heard the reboot will focus on a female lead, too, because, like I said in the comics, Stanley dies, and other people wear the Mask. 

Also, in the show, two characters named Peggy, and Eve wear the Mask at one point; even a baby wears the Mask, which is way better than the Son of the Mask because the baby wears it and isn't born with it. 

As the creator Doug Mahnke said. "One of the great things about the Mask is it can be anyone." Also, the creator of The Mask has said he has a comedian in mind to play the Mask in the reboot. I want to know who it is.

I love this film, and it still holds up to me.

Jim nailed as The Mask, and it's hard to picture someone else playing it.

I give this film an 8 out of 10. It's a great film from the 1990s that still holds up.
