How Marvel should have made Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness

How Marvel should have made Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness.

Here's another how Marvel should have made it now. This time, it's about Dr. Strange 2. After seeing Spiderman Across the Spider-Verse, I realized this movie does multiverse right.

Spider-Verse did a much better job with Multiverse than Dr. Strange and Loki.
Marvel should take notes from Sony.
I see what Spider-Verse did right and what this movie did wrong.

So here's how Marvel should have made Dr. Strange 2.

10. As I mentioned in my past blogs, a forced co-lead doesn't need to be there.

Again, I don't have anything against Xochitl Gomez. I think she's a very talented actress, but this movie does what Phase 4 always does pull a bait-and-switch. The film focuses too much on her instead of Dr. Strange again. He's sidelined. I think this character is forced into the movie because, from what I've seen, former producer Victoria Alonso wanted this character so badly. It would work if you gave American Chavez her own series or introduced the character in something else. She doesn't fit the Dr. Strange mythos now. If anyone here liked this character, that's fine, but I think she was forced into this film like all co-leads.

9. The film should have had Strange just move on from Christine.

In the film, Christine gets married because she wasn't blipped, and Dr. Strange is upset, but he knew this would happen once he saw the reality that they won against Thanos. I think the film should have had him accept that's move on, and he's moving on too. That's when the film should have had Clea in the movie, not just at the end but in the whole film. She and Strange bond because she's had to go through this, too, and they hit it off. I know the film teaches us that it's hard to move on from someone, but eventually, we find someone new in our lives. The variant was a good scene because he tells her he loves her but is ready to move on. They could keep that.

8. The film should have introduced Doctor Voodoo.
Doctor Voodoo, to me, should have been in this film, being a fan favorite from the comics. Jericho Drumm, aka Dr. Voodoo, could have been Strange's second best friend/rival, for they both respect and can't stand each other. Voodoo, to me, would have been more interesting in this film because he communes with the dead, and they refer to him as Brother Voodoo. Like in the movie, he could have had him reveal he worked for Nightmare once because Nightmare killed his brother Daniel. Voodoo vowed to avenge his brother and stop Nightmare. Dr. Strange and Dr. Voodoo team up, and Strange knows what he's going through as he lost a sister he couldn't save. The two of them bond over this and becomes friends.
Having Voodoo would have been a more exciting character instead of Chavez, in my opinion. If I were cast Brother Voodoo, I would have cast Yahya Abdul Mateen the Second.
I know he's playing Wonder Man, but that character sucks.
Or
Lakeith Standfield

7. The film should have given Clea a significant role in the movie.
Clea appears at the end of the film setting up the third film; honestly, I think she should have played a significant role in this film. She could have been Strange's new love interest, who basically gets him over Christine. Clea helps Strange in the movie, and the two of them form a strong bond because they have a lot in common and head it off just like that. Clea was also raised by her father Orini, who taught her magic, and her mother abandoned them, for she went insane after being cursed and didn't want to kill her family. So her mother cast herself into an unknown reality to protect her family. I would reveal in the third film that she is actually the niece of Dormammu.

6. Vision should have been in the film.
Vision is getting his own show called Vision Quest, but I think the character should have been in the film. After what happened in Wanda Vision, I think it would have made more sense to have Vision in the movie, and he's the one who saves Wanda. Instead of the reality of Billy and Tommy that sing her a weird song, you have Vision show a hologram of them playing together and a hologram of them as a family. When the made-up Vision gave his memories to White Vision, he remembered spending time with Wanda and their sons. Something like that would have worked better for this film that redeems Wanda, and she stops Nightmare from destroying the Multiverse.

5. They made Scarlet Witch the villain, which didn't work.
Scarlet Witch has been a villain in the comics, but I feel the character wasn't the right villain for this film. I heard rumors that Scott Dickerson left because they wanted the movie to be more of a season 2 to Wanda Vision, which he didn't like that idea. He wanted the film to be about Dr. Strange, but he was all right with Scarlet Witch in the movie. He just didn't want to sideline Dr. Strange. I get more into this later. But I heard he also left Dr. Strange 2 because he was offered another movie to make, and I think he was given more freedom of creative control with that film, unlike this film.
I feel like what they should have done was have Wanda work with the character of Nightmare. You could have had Nightmare make a deal with Wanda that he will give her kids from a different reality, but Nightmare is double-crossing her because he's only using her to destroy the Multiverse. It would have worked better if Wanda had worked with someone instead of going insane alone.

4. They shouldn't have wasted the Illuminati
Now the Illuminati appear in this film, and they all die like that. I feel like Marvel needs to stop this because you cast the perfect actor for Mr. Fantastic, played by John Krasinski, and they kill him by turning him into spaghetti. I know people enjoyed this scene, but I mean, come on, none of them try to help each other also, Mr. Fantastic is the most intelligent man on the planet, and you don't have him outsmart Scarlet Witch. Also, why is it that Mr. Fantastic and Black Bolt die without either member helping them, and you have Peggy say I can do this all day and some fans are like really?
In Across the Spider-Verse, we see a lot of Spidermen and Women, and I got to tell ya, none of them get wasted. Except for Scarlet Spider, Spiderman 2099 was great, Spiderwoman was excellent, and Spider-Punk stole the show. It would have been better if they had done this with the Illuminati because they wasted these characters.
Especially John. I mean, Adam Driver will be the MCU Mr. Fantastic, and I know Kevin said this was just fan service for the fans. It's just lame because he would have been a great Mr. Fantastic.

3. Nightmare should have been the film's villain instead of Scarlet Witch.
Originally Nightmare was going to be the film's villain, and I think they should have stuck with him because he's a better villain choice. Nightmare is the ruler of Nightmare World and a Fear Lord. In the film, Nightmare could have been the one who gets Scarlet Witch to go crazy, and he wants to merge his world with Earth19999. Nightmare could have been a great villain because he's not sympathetic, just twisted and scary. In this film, he would have been a game-changer if they kept him as the villain.
We could have an epic battle between Dr. Strange and Nightmare. Scarlet Witch also realizes he lied to her, and she, along with Strange, Clea, Wong, and Voodoo, defeats him, and they lock him away forever. Nightmare would have been a better villain for the second film, but they messed that up.
Also, if I were to cast Nightmare, I would cast David Tennant.

2. The film wastes Dr. Strange because he should have been the main focus!
Like most MCU films, they sideline their protagonist, and Dr. Strange got sidelined for a co-lead. The film I feel wasted Strange, like we should have seen him do more action. He gets knocked out from a fight with that monster, and his cape does the fighting for him. Dr. Strange should have done more in the film, but I did like his variants, and the zombie Dr. Strange was cool. One thing I know about Sam Raimi is that he's great at horror films. Still, Dr. Strange should have been the star of his movie, and they should have had him trying to stop Nightmare and save Wanda before she helps Nightmare destroy their world and the Multiverse. Strange was done better in No Way Home, and they got to make him Sorcerer Supreme again, and if I were making this film, I would end it with Wong making him Sorcerer Supreme again. This film focuses more on Scarlet Witch and American Chevaz over Dr. Strange. His name is in the title of the film. Focus on your protagonist and not his co-leads.
I would keep the third eye ending, set up Baron Mordo as the villain in the next film, and finally see Dr. Strange battle against Dormammu.
Also, Dr. Strange was initially supposed to be in Wanda Vision, but they didn't want him because they didn't like the idea of him helping Wanda, which is kind of weird. Kevin Feige once said Dr. Strange is the MCU anchor, yet he's not using him at his best lately. Maybe Phase 5 will fix that because they got stop sidelining their main characters.

1. Marvel needs to give its directors more creative control but still follow a plan.
Joe Russo once said that Marvel directors don't get a lot of freedom of creative control. Sure, James Gunn, but that was because he got fired over some tweets but was rehired after Suicide Squad. I've heard this film had many problems, and there were a lot of rewrites in the script. There were a lot of issues with this movie, but I think if you just give directors a little more freedom, it could work out better. It would be great if they kept Scott's ideas and had Raimi direct the film. I heard Scott wanted the film to be a total horror film and make it rated R because he wanted to up Marvel's game. However, they didn't want that, but we know Deadpool 3 will be their first MCU R-rated film. I still think Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness would have worked better if they gave directors more freedom of creative control. Overall, if you still like this film the way it was made, that's fine, but I think it could have been better.
Plus, the Multiverse wasn't as good as Spider-Verse we should have explored more crazy realities or set up Kang as the big villain of the Multiverse Saga.

So that's how I think Marvel should have made Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness.
Now if you liked the movie the way it was, that's fine, but I think Across the Spider-Verse is a way better film that does a multiverse storyline better.
Seriously Marvel needs to take notes from Sony when making a good Multiverse film. After all, they know how to write a good Multiverse storyline because they give their writers and directors freedom of control.
The live-action Spider-Verse stuff isn't good, but their animated films are fantastic.
