Spiderman Review 20th Anniversary

Spiderman Review

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this film, I thought I might give this film a review. Here's what I think of the movie. I love this film. It's part of my childhood. This film was a game changer in cinema. Without it, we wouldn't have the MCU, and since Tobey Maguire came back to play Spiderman in No Way Home, this film is actually the first MCU film.

These people made our childhood.
The film was directed by Sam Raimi, and he did a great job making this film. He would later make Dr. Strange 2. The film's cast did a great job: Tobey Maguire, Kristen Dunst, James Franco, Willem Dafoe, Rosemary Harris, Elizabeth Banks, JK Simmons (Who is the best casting of this film,) the late Bill Nunn, and Cliff Robertson. Everyone in the movie was just amazing in their roles.

Tobey is Spiderman
#MakeSpiderman4Happen
The story is about Peter Parker, a geek at high school who gets bitten by a radioactive spider and acquires spider powers. His uncle Ben tells him with Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility. Such an inspiring quote. Peter tries to use his powers to make money and stupidly lets a criminal get away, and his uncle gets shot. Driven by guilt and learning the man who killed him was the same burglar, Peter decides to use his powers to protect the people of New York as Spiderman.
The film is also about Peter's love life, his struggles, and he's got to fight the Green Goblin. Who is Norman Osborn, the father of his best friend, Harry Osborn.
Green Goblin was a great villain, and I know many fans today hated the mask. I get that, and hey, No Way Home, they got rid of the mask and made it Dafoe's face, and it worked better. I love the fight scenes between Spiderman and Green Goblin. The bridge scene was fantastic, too, especially when the people of New York help Spiderman out during his fight with Green Goblin. "You mess with one of us, you. You mess with all of us." I actually like that quote despite how cheesy it sounds.
Not to mention, the final fight scene in the film is good and very intense as well. I liked the Green Goblin's death. It was exactly like the comics when he died.

The romance between Peter and MJ is good, and that famous kiss won the best kiss at the MTV Movie Awards. It is an iconic kiss scene. Mary Jane's role in the film is good, like she was the most popular girl in school, but when she graduated, we see her struggling to make it as an actress. This is relatable to a lot of people who graduated from high school because getting a career you want is hard no matter what.
What's even more interesting at the end of the film is that when Mary Jane confesses she loves Peter, he turns her down even though he loves her so much. He can't risk getting hurt again after the Green Goblin. If you want to know what happens, just watch Spiderman 2.

The film's visuals are good too at the time they were by today they are not so good. The film did a great job with the web-swinging scenes, but the balloons at the Oscorp Festival were crap. I liked the fight scenes in the film. The emotional scenes in the film were well written, and the scene with Peter and Aunt May talking about Ben was emotional because it's not easy losing a member of your family. We've all gone through that.
The ending of the film is sad but at the same time uplifting because the film is about taking responsibility and learning from our wrongs, and becoming better people.

FUN FACT TIME.
(Google Image),
Fun Fact, Wolverine was supposed to cameo in Spiderman, but they couldn't do it because of timing and film rights.
That would have been so cool. Imagine a Spiderman and Wolverine team-up film with
Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman. That would have been cool.
Another fun fact is that Spiderman and Wolverine were the most popular superheroes in the 2000s. When Marvel was relaunching the Avengers title, they added Spiderman and Wolverine because of how popular they were at the box office and with fans.

So that's my review of one of my favorite Superhero films that made my childhood awesome. This film was a game changer, and I've been a big fan of Spiderman for years because he's a character we can all relate to. I give Spiderman 9 out of 10 and a solid A. Also, if you think about it now, Spiderman is the first MCU film.

My thoughts on the Black Panther Wakanda Forever Trailer

(Google Image)
My thoughts on the Black Panther Wakanda Forever trailer.

So I saw the Black Panther Wakanda Forever trailer, and I like the trailer for the movie. The trailer was full of great visuals. You can tell this movie is going to be very emotional and full of action scenes as well as beautiful shots.
Seeing Atlantis and Namor was really cool, but the one thing I didn't like was this trailer confirms T'Challa is dead. The trailer also shows us the new Black Panther, who will likely be Shuri. Unless it's Kilmonger, I mean, it's possible, or it's an original character.
(Google Image)
Who knows who the new Black Panther is, but I still wish it was T'Challa. I don't have a problem with Shuri becoming Black Panther. It happened in the comics, and in my old Black Panther 2 and 3 Fan Cast and Ideas, I would have had her become a Black Panther, and she becomes queen of Wakanda while T'Challa goes to America and becomes a New Avenger. I wouldn't have a problem with Kilmonger if he comes back to life or someone else takes up the mantle, but I still feel like they should have continued T'Challa's story.

They changed Namor in the film, and it's a wait-and-see what they do with the character. It's about time this character made his screen debut. I just wish he was going to fight T'Challa, and I hope they stay true to his character in the film.
Atlantis looks pretty cool, too, in the film.
Also, the trailer is very emotional, dealing with the death of T'Challa, and we see the funeral of T'Challa. It made me sad, and no doubt I will shed tears for the funeral scene in the film.
(Google Image)
As well, I can tell making this film was emotional for the whole cast and crew as well Angela Bassett's dialogue she gives in the trailer is powerful and full of emotion. That is some of the best acting I've seen this year. Not to mention, the action looks very cool, and the visuals and cinematography look amazing. Plus, the music in the trailer was so good.

Some fans hope this film is set during the blimp, but I don't think it will be. I believe it is set after Endgame. I'm getting those vibes from the trailer, and I don't like the idea of killing off T'Challa. There are so many more stories to tell with this character.
We wanted to see this character fight Namor, and Dr. Doom, become King of the Dead, Marry Storm, Lead the New Avengers, See what type of King he would be, and get a great send-off like RDJ and Chris Evans did.
Now I know Marvel and Ryan Coogler are doing what they think is best for the character and to honor Chadwick, but I don't think killing his character is the right way to honor him.
Most fans now want a recast of the role, and even Chadwick's brother Derek Boseman has said he would have wanted the role of T'Challa recast. I agree with him. It doesn't feel right to kill the character that Chadwick worked hard to bring to the big screen.
I know this film will pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the tribute to Chadwick in the trailer was beautiful. I loved the painting in the trailer. However, I don't think killing off T'Challa is the best way to honor Chadwick.
(Google Image)
This is a beautiful tribute to Chadwick Boseman, and I understand why this film will be very emotional for many people. Chadwick Boseman was my first choice for Black Panther, but I feel that the character must live on because Chadwick wanted people to see the character, not him, in the role he played.

If people go see the movie and love it, that's fine, it could be a great film, and the reception from the trailer is excellent and emotional at the same time. Some fans will be disappointed with the film's decision to kill T'Challa off because it doesn't feel right because there are more stories to tell about T'Challa. Again there is the possibility Marvel might bring back T'Challa in the third film or Secret Wars with a variant of T'Challa.
I prefer they recast T'Challa not in this film but in a future film like Black Panther 3.
I love this character I just feel like there are more stories to tell, and they shouldn't go to waste.

Instead, they could have made the Wakanda series first for more world-building and then come out with Black Panther 2 with a new actor set to play T'Challa. Now the movie will make a lot of money at the box office, and I will see it when it comes out. I'm sure it will be good, and very emotional at the same time.
I do think this film will do a great job honoring Chadwick Boseman.
They might bring back T'Challa in Black Panther 3. It may depend on how this movie does. Now, if you prefer they recast the role, that's fine, or if you're fine with Marvel focusing on a new lead, that's okay too.
Both sides of the argument over T'Challa's fate in the MCU just want what they feel is best to honor Chadwick Boseman and the character of T'Challa/Black Panther.
So that's my thoughts on Black Panther Wakanda Forever trailer.
Let me know what you think and what did you think of the trailer? And do you think Marvel Studios should recast the role of T'Challa in Black Panther 3?

How Marvel Should Have Made Thor Love and Thunder SPOILERS!

How Marvel Should Have Made Thor Love and Thunder

So after seeing Thor Love and Thunder, I will do what I've been doing with the past phase 4 films. Here's how I think Marvel should have made Thor Love and Thunder. Now, if you liked Love and Thunder, that's fine. No judgment at all. This is just how I think this movie should have been made.

11. The film should have been longer than 2 hours.

The film was made in under 2 hours. This was because Disney requested this. I don't blame Taika for that. I feel like he got screwed over in a way. I feel like the movie should have been longer. There's so much more they could have covered in the film. That's just how I feel about the runtime of this film. I feel like it should have been longer.

10. The comedy felt very forced at times; it was just too goofy at times.
Some comedy in the film was kind of forced and very goofy. I mean, when Ragnarok did it, it worked very well. I loved Thor Ragnarok to me. It's still the best Thor film, in my opinion. This film's comedy just didn't work at times, and some dialogue was kind of cringe. This film should have been a little more serious, but with some humor. I think Marvel needs to do more serious, dark, and gritty films and shows, but knowing Disney, they will never allow that. That's the one advantage DC has against Marvel is that they can do dark and gritty like The Batman is a good example. Say what you will about DC's films, but they can still go dark and gritty if they want to, depending on what type of character it is.

9. The film should have finally introduced Thor's half-brother Balder the Brave.

Balder the Brave is Thor's half-brother and Odin's secret son. I still don't understand why Marvel hasn't introduced him yet? The character was going to be in the first film, and there were rumors he would be in the second film. He was going to appear in Dr. Strange 2, but they canceled the idea. I think this film should have had him like his role could have been he's been traveling the universe, and maybe he and Sif are dating. He knows Valkyrie is ruling Asgard. He's okay with that because he's a warrior first. He joins forces with Thor, and Thor is not surprised that Balder is his brother and he could have helped him fight Gorr. In the end, Balder returns to Asgard and becomes a general of Asgard's army. I just think this character needs to get adapted. He is a fan favorite of the Thor books and needs to make his big screen debut. If I were to cast him because rumor choices for the role were Justin Chatwin and Daniel Craig. If I were to cast Balder the Brave, it would be Aidan Turner.

  8. The Guardians of the Galaxy should have had a bigger role, but I understand why they had a small role in the film.
The Guardians of the Galaxy in the film are only in it for the beginning, and that's it. It's kind of a letdown because I wanted them to play a significant role, or at least one of them, like Star-Lord, plays an important role in helping Thor. Sadly that didn't happen. I understand. James Gunn did say that Thor won't be in Vol 3. Originally the Guardians would have played a big role in the film, but that was changed.

7. Valkyrie's role in the film was just bland.
I felt Valkyrie's role in the film was just bland, and she's not as cool as she was in Ragnarok like she's just there to be King of Asgard, and I don't understand what's wrong with Queen. Some of the most incredible women in history were Queens. I'm just saying nothing wrong with the title Queen.
What would have made her character more interesting is that she admits that being Queen or King isn't as fun as she thought it is because she finds it boring, and she's a warrior like Thor. She wants to lead but lead a group of new Valkyries and go out drinking with them after a battle. I would have a scene at the end of the film she steps down as Queen or King to those who prefer that. She gives the title back to Thor, and Thor accepts, becomes King, and has Valkyrie lead a new group of Valkyries. It could lead to a spin-off show called The Valkyries.

6. Jane Foster's story worked in the film.
Say what you will about the Jane Foster becoming Thor story arc, but I like this version more than the comics. I felt Jane's story arc was good. She's fighting and learns Mjnoir can help her with her cancer, and she knows Mjnoir can help her, but it still kills her. I liked her death scene and how she dies a hero defeating. I would keep that, and she goes to Valhalla. Although I would change her dialogue, some cringe-worthy, like Taste my Hammer. Ugh.

5. I wasn't a fan of how Zeus was done in the film.
I love Russell Crowe, but I wasn't a fan of his Zeus. Like I hated that he was fat and looked like a Greek butcher, you see in Greek town. When Russell played Jor-El, he was buffed for the role.
I wish we got this version of Zeus from the comics. Even Anthony Hopkins looked buffed in his armor. I wish we got this, and I felt Zeus could have been done better in the film. I really wanted to see Gorr and his fight, and Gorr kills him with his own thunderbolt, and that's what would lead Hercules to believe Zeus was killed by Thor. Because I did like the Hercules cameo but was disappointed it wasn't Henry Cavil. Still, I wish Brett Goldstein all the best with this role, and I hope he does a good job.

4. I felt like they butcher the God Butcher Storyline.
Now in adaptions, they always make changes to stories in film and television. My cousin, who's a big fan of the God Butcher arc, didn't like the changes to the account. This story arc is very dark and scary, but Marvel took it and made it more light and funny. Cause Disney doesn't let Marvel go dark.
Don't get me wrong, Christian Bale was great as Gorr, but the problem is, like all marvel villains, he's sympathetic, or they don't use him at his best, but still, we should have seen him kill more gods in cold blood.
I don't mind that they changed his look, and I get it. It looked too much like Voldemort, but I feel his character could have been more like his comic counterpart if he killed more gods on screen. I wish he had a scene where he attacks the big gods at Olympus. His origin is the same, except that his whole family died and killed not one god he worshiped but all the gods of his planet in such violent and gruesome ways. Sadly we couldn't get that.
At this point where I'm like Marvel, do something new and give the audience something they would not expect. I would have liked to have seen Thor get his arm cut off by Gorr. That would have been a shocking scene.
Also, I wouldn't have Gorr's daughter be brought back to life. Instead, Gorr dies, is reunited with his family, and is at peace with them.

3. The film could have had Thor Corps.
One thing this film could have done now, some will say Spiderman and Loki already did this idea. Very true. However, they could have done a time travel like Thor learns that Time Gods were slain by Gorr, but one of them survived, and he opened two portals and outstepped a young Thor played by Liam Hemsworth and an older Thor played by Brad Pitt or Chris Hemsworth. Like in the comics, they agree to help Thor.
Young Thor is very brash and ignorant and wields the ax Jarnbjorn he's not worthy yet, and Old Thor is the king of Asgard, which surprises everyone, and Valkriye is now going to die directly after fighting Gorr. We could have gotten some good scenes with these three talking about Jane being Thor. I can see when Korg brings up Thor being a great dad. Old Thor comments that he is a father. He has five kids two sons named Magni and Woden and three daughters, Torunn, Frigg, and Ellisiv.
Also, in the film, we could have this type of scene. At the film's end, all four Thors battle against Gorr, and the young Thor cuts off his arm where necrosword was being held by Gorr. All four Thors, with Zeus's thunderbolt helping unleash a full blast of thunder, and all four shout For Asgard! Defeating Gorr and Gorr, instead of bringing back his daughter, he decides to die to be with his family and let go of his hate. The film would still end with Jane's death, and she dies a hero.
I would have loved to have seen this happen along with Jane's Thor.
Something like this would have been fantastic, but we all know Loki and Spiderman No Way Home already did that, but it would have worked for Thor too. Also, Thor would name the four of them, The Thor Corps.

2. Thor didn't need to go soul searching again.
Another problem with the plot is Thor didn't need another soul-searching story arc. They did that with Endgame. They should have focused on him just being a hero and helping people. I'm just so sick of the whole self-discovery since it's been done to death. Not every main character needs a self-discovery arc if it's been done already. The film should have been about Thor moving on with his life and helping people. He does miss the Avengers. I just felt they could have done something different instead of the whole soul searching.
As I think this film should have ended with Thor becoming King of Asgard, and he decides to remain with Asgard. Also, maybe he finds love again with Sif and wants to stay to protect Asgard and earth from future threats. It could have even set up a New Avengers film.

1. This film proves that Phase 4 is the end of Marvel's winning streak.
Let us be honest whether you agree or not. The MCU's Winning days are behind them now. This movie is proof of that in a way. Like I've talked about this before in my past blogs, but Phase 4, I feel, hasn't been that good. Like it's just these films do the same thing forced comedy and jokes, not taking enough risks like going dark and gritty, forced co-leads, making every villain sympathetic, and it's the same old trait. Marvel Studios must listen to their audience, focus on good stories and characters first, and take more risks with their films.

I don't know what's happening with Marvel, but so far in phase 4, they seem to be falling from grace. Now, who knows? Maybe comic con or Disney expo they might address how the fans feel about the current state, or they might announce some changes and admit that they know phase 4 is not pleasing many fans. Fans want to see more story-driven and character-driven films like Spiderman No Way Home. I do hope they look at No Way Home on how to make future Marvel films, and I've heard they don't really have a plan, but I hope that's not true.

I feel Marvel's winning days are behind them, but that happens to every franchise that has ever been made. They lose their winning streak, or people aren't into it anymore. Like Steven Spielberg once said, Superhero films hype will die down someday, just like Western films.
We will just have to wait and see what the future holds. I just hope they will listen to their fans more, hire good writers, and focus more on story and character-driven films in the future.

So that's how I think Marvel should have made Thor Love and Thunder. Again, if you like this film, that's fine, but I just feel like this film could have been done better. There are even some people saying this film is worse than Dark World. Let me know what you think.

The Sea Beast Review

My Review of the Sea Beast.
So I saw The Sea Beast. Here's my review of it...this is a remarkable animated film. This film has some of the best animation I've ever seen. This movie was so much fun, and I was blown away by its animation. It was made by the creators of Moana and Big Hero 6. The film is basically a father and daughter arc, but it's excellent and focuses on sea monster hunting; this film shows that it's not right to hunt animals. The film does have an anti-hunting whale message to it. The voice cast in this film is excellent, like Karl Urban as Jacob, Zaris Angel Hator as Maisie, Jared Harris as Captain Crow, Marianne Jean Baptiste as Sarah, and Dan Stevens as Admiral Hornagold. This film also had good visuals and music, and the characters in the movie are fantastic. I had a good time watching this film, and it's a feel-good film for the whole family.

I give this film a 9 out of 10.

Thor Love and Thunder Review

My Review of Thor Love and Thunder.

So I saw Thor Love and Thunder last night, and here's my review of it...It was meh. It wasn't as good as the previous Thor film, and I wasn't a fan of the story. My problems with this film aren't as dark or serious as they were in the comics, but Taika has said he would change your lores in a heartbeat. The film's cast did a good job Chris Hemsworth is always as fun as Thor. He is Thor. Natalie Portman was okay as Jane Foster, aka Mighty Thor. I mean, that's all I can say about her character, but her story arc was really good. Tessa Thompson was good too, but she wasn't as cool as she was in Ragnarok, and I still don't get why she called King Valkyrie. What's wrong with Queen? Taika was good as Korg and funny, but the best character was Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, who did a great job as Gorr the God Butcher like he was scary and almost a Voldemort-type character. I was not a fan of Russell Crowe's Zeus's. I didn't like how they made him fat, and it's funny because Russell Crowe was jacked when he played Jor-El Superman's father, and I prefer Zack Snyder's Zeus over this version.

The story is just the whole Gorr is going to kill all the gods because his god didn't save his daughter. In the comics, it's much darker. The film has too many jokes, and it fe and els too short. As I heard, Taika had to make this film in under 2 hours. I just felt this film had a lot of problems, and I got to be honest, this film is proof that Marvel's winning days are over. I'm going to be honest. Spiderman No Way Home is their best film in Phase 4. That's just my opinion of where the MCU is right now. Plus, the CGI in the movie was terrible, and I feel they could have done better with this film.

I was disappointed with this film. I give Love and Thunder a 6 out of 10. It's just not that good, but if you like, that's fine. I did like the end credit scene, though.

My thoughts on the Rings of Power Trailer

(Google Image)
My thoughts on the new trailer of The Rings of Power.

(Google Image)
From what the trailer told me, the show will focus on Elrond and Galadriel.

So the new trailer for The Rings of Power came out, and here's what I think of it...Budget-wise, this show looks good and is well presented, but the real issue is the story and how the characters will be written. In the trailer, we hear narrating about Middle Earth, and how things are going, we see Elrond, Galadriel, other elves, the dwarves, the harfoots, and Numenor. They are making many changes in Numenor. I still think it's a bad idea to merge two timelines. The forging of the rings and the downfall of Numenor both storylines should have been separate seasons. I'll get more into that later.

(Google Image)

We see the dwarves in the trailer, the dwarves look pretty good, and I think this season will end with the dwarves releasing the Balrog resulting in them abandoning Moria. It will be interesting to see Moria in its glory before the Balrog came and the dwarves abandoned it.

(Google Image)
We see the Harfoots in the trailer.

I still don't think we needed to add hobbits in this season. If it were up to me, I would have saved the hobbits for a later season, like season 4 could have been the fall of Arnor, and the hobbits were involved in that story arc. Also, the show's visuals look good, and we see Valinor and the two trees before they were destroyed by Morgoth.

(Google Image)
This is a good shot of Valinor, and seeing the Two Trees is remarkable. Plus, the music score is pretty good too.

This is a wait-and-see for me. I feel like they are making too many changes to the lore from what I've seen, and I'm hoping the original characters aren't going to overshadow the book characters or their storylines don't fit the narrative.

(Google Image)
Again these characters should have been saved for season 2.
Also, I don't see a reason why Isildur needs a sister. Why not make it his girlfriend or something else.
Pharazon looks awful. He's supposed to be a mighty warrior known as Ar Pharazon the Golden, but they took away the gold and put it on Miriel instead.
(Google Image)
Tar Miriel was never fully queen in the books because she was usurped by Pharazon, her cousin, and she never left Numenor, not even for war. I think the first season should focus on Tar Minister, and in the first season, the Numenorians start to question the Valar and slowly become corrupted, setting up season 2.  The Fall of Numenor.
Again this is why I think these characters should have been saved for season 2.
I know studios make changes all the time to adaptions, but it's natural for fans to feel concerned it won't be as good as the book.
When Jackson made the films, he made changes to the story, but he didn't try to make it his own. He wanted to respect Tolkien's work and not change what his story meant. I feel like this show is changing a lot of the lore of Middle Earth.
(Google Image)
The elves in the show look kind of weird, and I'm not a fan of Celebrimbor's look and the actor who's playing him. Nothing against Charles Edwards. He's an outstanding actor; I feel he would have been suited for a different role. I was hoping for the Shadow of Mordor look, but I know fans complain they ruined his character in that game; I understand. I would keep that look but make him more like his book counterpart. The guy just wanted to redeem his family's name after the events of the First Age.

The trailer is setting up Sauron to be the new Dark Lord. We haven't seen him, but he will show up. I also think the first episode will be a prologue to the first age, which is pretty cool. I'm down for that because the first episode is a prologue about the history of Middle Earth. There is also a short scene that I think is Feanor and his sons swearing the infamous oath, so that's cool.
(Google Image)
So the trailer was okay. I mean, good visuals but not enough detail on the story, but if you read the lore, you know already the events of the second age. This September, we will see what this show does. Will it be good or bad? It's a wait-and-see. I have concerns like many of my friends. One of my friends pointed out this will be a huge mixed bag, and it likely will be. I might like the show or not, but if I do, it's mainly how the story and characters are written in this show. My biggest concern is how the story and characters will be done in this show.
That's might thoughts on the trailer, and what are your thoughts on The Rings of Power.
