My thoughts on The Death of Robin Hood film.
So recently, the trailer for Hugh Jackman's upcoming Robin Hood film was released, and it's basically Logan, but with Robin Hood. Robin Hood has been a folk hero for centuries since the 13th century, and we've had tons of adaptations of the character.
We've had versions he's heroic, he's funny, he's a fox, but always steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
A character like this that's been in the public domain for a long time, and anyone can do what they want with this character. I even have my own idea for a Robin Hood story, and I hope to share it one day.
Now we are getting a version of the character that is a sad, broken old man, as we get nowadays a great hero who inspired so many, and just like that, he's a sad, broken old man. I've talked about this trope before and would love to tell a story about a great hero who is now older but still inspiring. Now, the film basically tells us that Robin Hood was never a hero; he was a murderer, I mean, the trailer does show him killing people in order to steal from the rich to give to the poor. Some people will argue that this movie is trying to destroy the legend of Robin Hood, but you know, Robin Hood is a public-domain character. You can't really destroy a character like that, because there are other versions of the character that inspire us and doesn't end up losing everything. Now, in this film, he's a sad, broken old man, and it's likely Maid Marian is dead, and all his merry men are dead too. Although Bill Skarsgard is playing Little John, he might be playing Little John's son, who goes by his father's name.
The film also features a female character, played by Jodie Comer, who is a mystery figure Robin Hood has to protect, and I don't know if they are going to reveal that she is his daughter or related to the Sheriff of Nottingham or Prince John. We shall see what this film does like it's a very interesting take on Robin Hood and it's likely he will die in the film because there is a book called the Death of Robin Hood so he will likely die but his legend will live on as many will be inspired by him or tell their own takes of his legend that he was a hero or he was crimainl. I can see it ending like that. We shall see what this film does. It's directed by the guy who made Nicolas Cage's Pig film, so it's promising. I'll watch it, but if this film is just to shit on a legacy character, I'll be annoyed that there are way too many stories where they deconstruct a hero and just make them sad, broken, talked down to, or fail badly in the end, and then they self-exile themselves. However, I could be wrong, and in the end, the Robin Hood legend lives on because he was a hero. This movie is not about shitting on Robin Hood; it shows that, even though he is dead, his legend will live on as he is remembered as both a hero and an outlaw.
So that's my thoughts on The Death of Robin Hood Trailer.
And here is another thing...
This is the 600th Blog Post, and I want to say thank you to all my viewers and to everyone who has read my blog about my film reviews, fan casts, top best or worst lists, my thoughts, and ideas for how I would make this or that. I just want to say thank you to all of you. I've posted many blogs, some of which are my best work, and some of which I look back on and am kind of embarrassed about. However, despite that, I am so grateful to all my bloggers. I do have more blog posts in the works, and I am currently working on my fantasy book, which I hope to publish this year, as I did last year with Three Legged Jack.
Still, I thank you all for your support of my blog and the feedback I got on it.
So again, thank you all!
