Now before I get started I am aware Disney has already made a live-action Sleeping Beauty which was Maleficent. Now to be honest I didn't like Maleficent I felt ruined what the villain Maleficent and it's just a boring movie. Now Angelia Jolie was great but I feel like she's not written well, I know there is a sequel in the works but I'm just showing my ideas for a proper live-action Sleeping Beauty and basically, an idea for a reboot incase Maleficent 2 fails. Here is my cast and my ideas for a proper Sleeping Beauty film.
Eliana Jones as Princess Aurora
Timothee Chalamet as Prince Philip
Alex Borstein as Flora, Kristen Schaal as Fauna, and Mindy Kaling as Merryweather
Now that's my cast for the movie now here some idea for Disney if they should reboot Sleeping Beauty incase Maleficent 2 sucks.
Here are some ideas on a live action Sleeping Beauty film.
1. Let the film's POV be from Aurora and Philip's.
If there were to be a reboot of the film give Aurora more character in the film now you could point out Maleficent the character did have more to her, but there could be more work done on the character and also give Philip more character lets learn about him like maybe he doesn't want to marry Aurora because he doesn't know her but he is pressured by his father to do it. When Philip meets Rose the two of them get to know each other, maybe they see each more than one scene like two scenes or three scenes. Aurora isn't just looking for a prince like she was in the animated film she just wants to have friends and explore the kingdom. Aurora is good-hearted, beautiful, smart, she has a great love for animals, she's an explorer, and she never gives up. Philip is a prince wants to be free to choose what he wants to do his life. Philip is adventurers, he's a skilled swordsman, a natural leader, and he's got a good heart. These are my ideas for these characters like they have personality and they want to be free to choose what they want in life.
2. Give us an actual Mistress of all EVIL!
Now for the record I love Angelina Jolie, she's a great actress and was actually a good choice for Maleficent, but her character was poorly written. If you watch Nostalgia Critic's review of the film and he made some fair points on how the movie ruined the character. What they should do is make Maleficent a villain. Now if they want to tell us the backstory of the character they got to do it right. Here are my ideas, Maleficent was once good but she became corrupted or she wanted to be more powerful and she practiced in dark magic and she was banished by the fairies and so she became the Mistress of all Evil, she went to the forbidden mountains and claimed as her domain. She's sworn to take over the kingdom and see her curse fulfilled. That could be an idea and take inspiration from the animated film and maybe look at other films for a great villain.
3. Give us more background on some of the other characters.
Now in the Maleficent movie, they made King Stefan the villain but I feel like that was unnecessary as well killing off Aurora's mother for no reason. Oh, wait, because they wanted Maleficent to be the mother. ugh. So instead in this reboot, they are loving, caring parents, who haven't see their daughter in years. Like we could see how their lives have been since Aurora left when she was infant. We see them worrying and wondering if she's safe like real parents would. Also, we can go into more detail why Stefan and Hubert want to unite their kingdoms. For King, Hubert let's see him not just someone who wants what's best for his kingdom and what's best for his son. Like maybe we see that Hubert misses Philip's mom and her dying wish was to see both kingdoms united in peace. Hubert is simply trying to honour his late wife's dying wish and sure her son Philip would have a good life.
Remember how annoying they were in Maleficent, well in this their less annoying, more funny, and very strong written characters. My casting choices are three very funny actresses so, yeah the three good fairies are funny and are like second mothers to Aurora.
