Why Batman Doesn't Kill
So I woke up yesterday morning to an article from Zack Synder who was defending his choice on having Batman kill people not directly but it's implied that killed them. So many fans like me and many others hated Batman V Superman for that reason. Says people need to wake the fuck up, I woke up to this article like "WTF, its been years people we are moving on to Matt Reeves's Batman now and DC is getting better because they are just writing good movies for everyone to enjoy. But seriously Batman doesn't kill." Now I'm going to explain why Batman never kills anyone. Now before I start I want to make something clear I know there different versions of the character and old comics were Batman killed people like in the new Grin Knight Batman, Thomas Wayne/Batman, Jason Todd/Batman in Injustice comics, and an Older Damian Wayne/Batman. Yes I know there are versions of the character that have killed people as well in the old Tim Burton movies yes we have seen him kill people, but the movies don't define Batman we do.

Yes I know there are versions of him using guns and killing people but the Batman I know today is not a killer.
The Batman I know and Everyone Else Knows
is no killer!
Now Batman has been part of my childhood and everyones. We love Batman because he's doesn't have powers but he goes out fights crime and keep his city safe. One thing that makes Batman a great character is his moral code "No Killing." Batman never kills no matter what in fact in the storyline Under The Red Hood. Jason Todd the second Robin comes back to life and he wants to kill the Joker he asks Batman why doesn't he kill the Joker after all the horrible things he's done like crippling Barbara Gordon, Killing thousands of innocent people in Gotham, Killing Jim Gordon's wife, and killing Jason Todd himself. Batman explains in his own words to Jason in the story why he doesn't kill.

"It would be to dammed easy, all I ever wanted to do is kill him a day doesn't go by when I don't think about subjecting him to every horrendous torture he's dealt out to others and then end him. But if do that if allow myself to go down into that place. I'll never come back." Batman Under The Red Hood.
Powerful words because we all see were Batman is coming from. He knows if he kills his enemies he can't comeback from that path. Bruce would loose sight on who he is and he swore to protect Gotham from crime and not kill anyone to save his city.

Now you could argue that Batman is responsible for some for certain deaths or ruining lives like for example, Jason Todd's death. Jason's death even after being brought back to life was always Batman's greatest failure. He let this kid on the streets of Gotham become the new Robin only to see this kid only had rage. Bruce thought he could change make him better but in the end he failed and Jason was killed by the Joker. This death forever haunted Batman as greatest failure making Jason Todd the new Robin. Truth is when we were kids watching Batman animated series we all dreamed of fighting crime with Batman but in truth it's actually really dangerous in real life and we wouldn't last a day. Even after the Joker killed Jason, Batman still didn't kill Joker because he wouldn't break his code and he did the same when Joker cripple Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. he wouldn't kill Joker because he believes in the justice system and his code.

It's also said that Batman is actually trying help his enemies become good again like Two Face for example, Bruce and Harvey Dent have been friends for years and both had the same dream of making Gotham into a better place. Sadly Harvey became a villain and Batman had to stop him now if you read the comics like All Star Batman from Scott Synder, Batman actually doesn't just stop Harvey from his evil crimes but works hard to save him and bring back the good Harvey Dent. This why he doesn't kill his enemies because he believes theres a chance to save them because I remember my old teacher telling me that Batman believes that people are born bad, they need to taught to be good. While Superman believes the opposite that people are born good, they are taught to be bad. Just interesting fact on what these two believe.

Now look it's been three years since BVS and I didn't like the film and we all have moved on since then. WB and DC learn from their mistakes and now we are getting better movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Wonder Woman 84, Birds of Prey, Green Lantern Corps, and the upcoming The Batman Reboot. I'm very excited to see what Matt Reeves does with the character and hoping he casts a good replacement for Ben and hopefully Matt knows that Batman doesn't kill.

"I'm Batman!"
In the end Batman doesn't kill that's what me and everyone else knows and again I know there are different versions of the character that kills but the Batman I know and everyone else knows doesn't kill. Zack Synder you need to wake up too and see that we Batman fans don't want see this character break his code of taking a life because Batman teaches us that we shouldn't kill anyone for any reason and we should believe in are justice system, that we see justice deliver to those have hurt people we love and care for. That is why Batman never kills because of his code and he stands by it as well believing in our justice system.
Do you agree with my argument let me know what you think and tomorrow is a big day for Batman comics. I'm not trying to bad mouth Zack Synder, I'm just trying to point out what he has gotten wrong about the character.
