Obsession Review

So I saw Obsession, and here is my review...I like it a lot, but I got to tell ya this film was scary. The story is about a guy named Bear who has a crush on Nikki, but he's too nervous to tell her how he feels. Until he gets a wish willow, and well, let's face it: if you've seen the movie, you know his wish is for Nikki to love him back, but it backfires as she becomes obsessed with him and won't leave him alone. Some disturbing moments and jump scares made me jump out of my seat. Also, I think we can all agree that Nikki was the victim in this story; she was not the villain of the film. Bear honestly never should have used that wish, because they always say, "Careful what you wish for." Or he could have made a wish like I wish Nikki and I went on a date, " but in truth he should have just sucked it up and asked her out, and if she said no and wanted to be friends, you move on and find someone, which was right in front of him, but he was too stupid to see. 

Nikki was the victim, and you feel worse for him than you do with Bear because Bear was an idiot, and he shouldn't have made a wish like that. It’s funny because before Obsession, there were tons of stories that tackle this type of story, and the lesson is always: be careful what you wish for, and if that person only likes you as a friend, accept it and move on.

The cast of the film did a great job; Inde Navarrette was fantastic. She was scary, and we'll see her as Rogue in X-Men. Michael Johnson, Cooper Tomlinson, and Megan Lawless were great too.

I give Obsession an 8 out of 10. It's a fun film to watch for Halloween now, and I think Inde will do a great job as Rogue. She said she is already practicing the southern accent.

Mandalorian and Grogu Review

So I saw The Mandalorian and Grogu, and here is my review...I liked it. I thought it was a fun film; it wasn't anything epic, but I still enjoyed it. This film had some good action and good effects, and the story is very simple: basically, it's Mando and Grogu going to find Jabba's son, Rotta Hutt, played by Jeremy Allen White, and he was one of the best characters in the film. Surprisingly, a Hutt is one of the best characters, and he's the only Hutt that is in great shape. The film's cast was good, and it is a fun movie; that's all it is. I give this film a 7 out of 10.  

Tony Review

Tony Review 

So I saw Tony, and here is my review...This was a great film, but it's very triggering. The film is based on the life of Anthony Bourdain, the famous chef who we all know from Parts Unknown. The film explores how he ended up in the restaurant business. I will say Tony does some questionable things in the opening, and he does a lot s you won't like, but he grows to be a better person. The film had some funny moments, and a lot of scenes that get to ya. Like, there are moments when you don't like Tony, but he later grows on you in the film because we all know Anthony went on to do great things, even though, sadly, he took his own life.

The cast of the film did a great job; Dominic Sessa was fantastic as Anthony Bourdain, Antonio Banderas was great, Emilia Jones was great, Leo Woodall was great; the whole cast was great. I really enjoyed this film, and I give it an 8 out of 10.

Coyote VS ACME Review

 

Coyote VS ACME Review

So I saw Coyote vs. Acme, and here's my review...I loved it. Like, this was a great film, and it is so funny too. Coyote vs. Acme: I fail to understand why WB canceled this film. It's so funny, and it's such a great film to watch. I had so much fun watching this film, and it is the best Looney Tunes film I've seen in such a long time.

So basically, after years of ACME screwing over Wild E Coyote, he decides to sue them, and this lawyer named Kevin Avery agrees to help sue ACME. However, we learn some dark secrets about ACME and why all the ACME products always blow up to the Looney Tunes.

Now the film's cast all do a great job, including Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, Luis Guzman, and, of course, Eric Bauza; he is funny as the Looney Tunes. There were a lot of funny moments in the film and some heartfelt moments too. I really loved this film, and I had such a blast watching it. I highly recommend this film; if you love Looney Tunes, you will love it. I give this 9 out of 10.

I'll be honest, as a kid I was always rooting for the coyote to catch the Road Runner. I don’t know why, but I always wanted him to catch that Road Runner.

Lanterns Review

So I saw Lanterns, and here is my review...I will be honest after three episodes of the show. I see why a majority of Green Lantern fans don't like this. I mean, I get why they will hate some of the changes to the source material. Like in the recent episode of Lanterns, they changed John Stewart's origin, and I didn't like it because the writer even said he didn't have a proper origin. I'm looking at her like, what are you talking about? Go on the DC Wiki to find his origin; like, honestly, it's making everyone forgive Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern film. 

Now, as for this show, I like the cast, but let's face it: they don't understand Hal and John. Even Grant Morrison has said that he doesn't like how Hal Jordan is written, and as much as I do like Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, I don't like how they write Hal in this. As well, the same with Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, but after seeing the change in his origin, I don't like how they've written the character. 

Now, in the comics, he became a Green Lantern after he fought a rogue Man-Hunter, and the Guardians of OA did have their eyes set on him becoming a Green Lantern since he was young, and they sent that Man-Hunter to Earth to make him one. After he was chosen, he defeated the Man-Hunter, but the Guardians of OA never told him. Those Guardians are very shady. Now, of course, in his origin, he was a Marine, and he even disobeyed orders and saved a group of innocent people. Like, why couldn't they adapt this comic-accurate origin? And, to be honest, I feel like John’s parents were bad; it's like with Superman’s parents. What is this trope of making parents bad?

Honestly, John's father was supposed to be chosen, but he was afraid, and the ring chose Hal because he wasn’t. Like, don't the writers know Abin Sur's ring chose Hal as its new bearer and only him? So John's mom was determined to make John a lantern because she talked to a Guardian of Oa, and she wasn’t happy about it. To be honest, I do not like how John Stewart’s origin was written in the show; it comes off as abuse by his parents, shooting apples with a gun on top of his parents’ heads and even testing it on his own parents. Like, that’s messed up; they want to make him the perfect soldier. Honestly, they really couldn't stick to the comic book origin. As well hated that one scene were they left him alone in the middle of a dark street. 

Now there are different origins for the character; like in the pre-52, John's parents were Civil Rights activists, and he was chosen as Hal's backup in case he should die, but honestly, they should have done more research on these characters because one of the writers didn't seem like they did enough research. Like, I would have preferred the mainstream origin with some elements from the animated series. Well, this was written by the guy who made Watchmen; honestly, they should have gone with someone who loves the Green Lantern series.

Now let me explain something: the whole point of someone becoming a Green Lantern is that they are chosen because their willpower is strong and they overcome fear. As well, the Guardians of OA don't care what a person looks like; if they have those qualities, they are chosen for it. That's the point of Green Lantern Lore. The Guardians chose Hal and John because they both have experience fear but they overcame with Will power. 

I mean, other Lantern Corps have different ways of choosing their Lanterns, but that's a different story.

Now I know we are only three episodes into the series, but it still hasn't done a good job of adapting Green Lantern. Hell, I think they should have made a movie about Green Lantern for the DCU. Also, I really don't like the showrunner of this show; he's the one who made the Watchmen show. 

As for Hal, well, let's face it: they might be adapting the Parallax storyline, but I would prefer they made Hal a strong mentor for John because I don't get why they always do this trope of taking great heroes and making them into losers. 

Still, I'll watch the show, but I'm bothered by this show, and who's making it? I would be surprised if they make John more like the animated series version in Man of Tomorrow, but still, come on, they could have done better. So yeah, I'm not big on what this show has been doing, and I'm not big on John Stewart's new origin and how Hal Jordan is written in the show. I'll still watch it, and who knows, it may surprise us, but for now I'm a little annoyed with this show.
