Reboot
Now Hellboy we all know from the movies and comics is popular character in Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse is not as well known as Marvel and DC are but they have made some great stuff. Hellboy is one of them I've love the Hellboy films except for the new one that came out this year. I also have two Hellboy graphic novels.
I do know about how Lion's Gate cause most of the problems while filming Hellboy.
Now as much me and everyone else we really wanted a Hellboy 3 to happen because that story deserves a proper ending but it ain't happening because busy schedules and sadly. Like Michael Keaton's Batman we never see that third film that was planned and Hellboy films join that rank. Instead we got a reboot that sadly was a failure and now what should Mike Mignola do I would say make a reboot TV Series instead of film. Why a TV Series because in a TV series we could show more of Hellboy's back story, Abe's, Liz, and interduce more characters that we have not met yet in Hellboy Universe.
I think a TV Series is the best course to give Hellboy fans a better adaption and with a TV series we can expand more on different story arcs and characters it could just as a good as Dele Toro's films.
First here is my cast for the show and my ideas. Also I've only read a few Hellboy comics and I have two graphic novels so if I get anything wrong please let me know.
My cast for the TV Series.
Jai Courtney as Hellboy (Main Protagonist)
Now lets be honest Ron Perlman is Hellboy and look David Harbour he was good but the film as you know didn't do the character justice. Now I went with Jai because he's great shape and he's a funny guy. Hellboy in the series is like his comic counterpart and the series would dive into his origins and him fight demons and monsters. Also we would see him try not to embrace his destiny to bring ruin to the world.
Katie Stevens as Liz Sherman (Appears in Season 2)
Liz would be in the show now I would make Liz a love interest but I would make it happen in later seasons like I wouldn't have Liz in show till season 2. Katie Stevens is former American Idol star and she's done few things and she was also in this horror film Haunt.
Jacob Anderson as Abe Sapien
Abe is one of the best characters in the series and as you know Doug Jones owned that role too. Now Jacob Anderson you know from Game of Thrones and I think he could be a good choice for Abe. Abe would appear in the first season near the end and would be a regular character in the rest of the seasons.
Tea Leoni as Dr. Katherine Corrigan
Katherine Corrigan is a member of BPRD and she is known for her knowledge of folklore and the occult. As she was Director of Field Operations and currently right now in the comics she is Special Liaison to Enhanced Talent Agents. Katherine would be in the second season and be a regular after that. The character was in the Hellboy animated films Sword of Storms and Blood and Iron.
Patrick Stewart and Ben Whishaw as Old Professor Trevor Bruttenhold and Younger Trevor Bruttenhold.
Now as we know John Hurt was amazing as Trevor even the creators of the comic said he was uncanny as Trevor. Still show must go on so my idea is have a young actor like Ben Whishaw who would play a younger Broom in the first season and the second season will have an older Broom played by Patrick Stewart that will die in the second season.
Daniel Wu as Benjamin Daimio
Benjamin is an agent of BPRD and has the power to transformed into monster like jaguar creature. Ben was a former Marine officer before joining BPRD. Ben would be in the second season and would be Hellboy's commander of their group. The character was in the 2019 film played by Daniel Dae Kim. Ben would appear in season 2 of the show.
David Kross as Johann Kraus
Johann Kraus appeared in Hellboy 2 the Golden Army played Seth Macfarlane and I got to be honest with ya Seth was awesome in that role. He was one of the best parts in that movie I personally would have Seth Macfarlane voice the character, but Seth Macfarlane is a busy guy with Family Guy, American Dad, and currently on the hit show The Orville. David Kross is an english german actor you might know from the Reader and I think he maybe the next best thing. Johann Kraus was born in Germany, 1946 he started develop powers were he see ghosts and if you've seen Hellboy 2 you already know the rest of this character's abilities. Johann would be in the second season of the show.
Keith Powers as Roger
Roger is a humanoid created by means of alchemy was he was discover in an old castle and since joined the BPRD. Roger would be in the second season of the show. Roger also talks in third person.
Penny Johnson Jearld as Panya
Panya is a mummy who was discover alive and now servers to the BPRD but her true motives are never clear.
Jason Alexander as Thomas Manning
Thomas Manning is the director of BPRD he was in the Hellboy films played by Jeffrey Tambor. Thomas would be in season 2 he took over as director of BPRD. He would appear in the second season.
Bonnie Wright as Alison Monaghan
Alison Monghan is an Irish woman raised by fairies in Ireland. She was in the this year Hellboy's film played by Sasha Lane. She would appear in season two. As Hellboy's love interest.
Mae Whitman as Ashley Store
Ashley Store is an agent of BPRD and would be in the show in the third season.
Robert Kazinsky as Ted Howards
Ted Howards is a field agent he would appear in the third season.
Santiago Segura as James Henry O'Donnell
James is renowned expert of ancient languages and is consultant to the BPRD. He would appear in season 2
Gemma Chan as Susan Xiang
Susan Xiang is one of the earliest agents of BPRD and she would be in the first season.
Aidas Hodge as Wooddrow Farrier
An agent of BPRD who specialized in cryptozoology and would appear in the first season.
Bella Throne as Fenix Espejo
Fenix is homeless girl with a dog who's physic and she joins BPRD she would be in the third season.
Toby Kebell as Edward Grey
Sir Edward is a paranormal investigator from early nineteenth century after being dragged to hell and given an eternal life. He now wonders the earth helping people as well he's know Hellboy's destiny to bring about end of the world and has made vow to help him prevent it. Edward would first appear in the first season and be regular character.
Logan Miller as Sidney Lynch
Sidney was in Hellboy Blood and Iron voiced by Rob Paulson. Sidney is a human metal detector
and would appear in season two of the series.
August Diehl as Karl Ruprect Kroenen
Kroenen was in the first Hellboy film by Del Toro and was one of the main villains of the film. In the series he would be the main antagonist of the first season. Like the original film he was a follower of Rasputin but after Rasputin's death he then would form a nazi group trying to take over the world even after WW2.
Ben Cartwight as Grigori Rasputin
Rasputin was the villain in the first Hellboy movie and has been consider to be Hellboy's arch enemy. He would be in the first season but only for one episode he would appear in the second season as a ghost. In third season he would be the main villain. Interesting fact Ben played Rasputin in The Last Czars on Netflix and he did a good job and I think he could pull off a more evil take on Rasputin.
Yvonne Strahovski as IIsa Haupstien
The character of Iisa was in the first Hellboy as Rasputin's lover she would be in the first season and second season trying to revile her dead lover.
Dee Bradley Baker as Herman Von Klempt
Herman Von Klempt is a mad nazi scientist who wants to destroy he would appear in the first season as one of the main villains. His body was destroyed so now he's floating head in a jar.
Hajfpor Julilus Bjornsson as Zirkus
Zirkus is cyborg nazi that works for Kroenen.
Cree Summer as Hecate
Hecate is the goddesss of witches and she would be in the second season as the main villain. The character was in Blood and Iron I just use the same actress from the film to play to play the live action one.
Jemaine Clemnt as Vladimir Giurescu
Vladimir is powerful vampire and he would be one of the main villains in season two and he would work Hecate to take over the world.
DeeDee Rescher as Baba Yaga
Baba Yaga is a witch from Russian lore and in Hellboy universe she is the one who teaches Rasputin his dark magic and powers. She would appear in the second season.
David Labrava as Gruagach
Gruagach is a demon who blames Hellboy for getting banished and so now he seeks to kill Hellboy for ruining his life even though it was his own fault. He would appear in the third season.
Ron Perlman as Azzael
Azzael is Hellboy's father and he would be in the forth season. Look I know some of you are going to say Ron Perlman as Hellboy's dad it won't happen. I know I just think it would be really cool to see Ron Perlman come back to this series as Hellboy's evil dad. In the second season Hellboy learns about his dad and the third season he makes an appearance in the end of the season. He will be the main of the forth season. As well Hellboy's half siblings will appear too.
That's my cast for a Hellboy TV Series and If I forgot any characters let me know.
Now here are my ideas for a TV series.
5. Have each season do a time skip like Young Justice does.
Now what I think this series should do is the first season is set in the 50s, the second in the 90s, the third in the 2000s and the forth in the 2020s. I think this could be something original and cool to do because we see how BPRD got started, Hellboy's origins, How all the characters met, and their origins too. Like there are so many ideas on where the series could go. As well first season the villains are the nazis lead by Karl Ruprect Kroenen, the second main villains is Hecate and Vladimir, third season Rasputin, and the final villain would be Azzal.
4. Possible do spin offs on different characters like Abe spin off or Liz spin off or Lobster Johnson spin off series.
Like one thing that this series could do is do is spin off series on other Hellboy characters and build a cinematic universe around it. Not by film but by television it's sure to work very well like I would love to see an Abe tv series or Liz tv series too. Even do a Lobster Johnson spin off now that would be cool to adapt. Just don't make it like CW please CW was great at one point now it's crap.
3. Make it a horror, comedy, fantasy, action, tv series.
Now Hellboy needs to be funny, dark, scary, full of great action, mystery, and many more. I think the show should look Del Toro's films, Buffy, and Supernatural for inspiration to make this show good. Also make it TV M rated blood, gore, nudity, swearing, and lots of violence.
2. Get really good writers and a good showrunner.
Now this show I would see them getting Mike Mignola to get involve I think he should be a supervisor on the series like Kevin Feige is to Marvel. Also I know for a fact that Lion's Gate was responsible for most of the bad choices made for Hellboy 2019 film. I think whatever studio makes it should learn from that mistake and let creative people have full creative control over this series. We just want a good Hellboy series since Del Toro's work.
1. I would go with four seasons or maybe beyond if the series is really popular.
Now for Hellboy I would go with four seasons or maybe five but I don't know what they will do with the character. I just hope we get a good adaption of this series one day and I know Mike will work hard to give us a good series adaption of it. I still believe we will see a good adaption of Hellboy soon. I don't know what the future holds but I'm sure we will get news about about Hellboy soon.
