A Knight's Tale Review celebrating 25 years of this classic film.

A Knight's Tale Review

To celebrate this film's 25th anniversary, a classic film from childhood, here is my review of A Knight's Tale. A Knight's Tale is a story about a peasant/squire named William Thatcher who poses as a knight after his knight, Sir Ector, dies, so he pretends to be him and becomes a popular knight, even though he is not of noble birth, since knights have to be of a noble house to become a knight. However, William earns the respect of many nobles, including Edward the Black Prince and Geoffrey Chaucer, who wrote the knight's tale on which this film is based. As well, William falls in love with a woman named Jocelyn, a noblewoman who is in love with him too, but there is a knight named Count Adhemar who thinks Ector isn't who he thinks he is, and he's a real douche in the film.
This film had a great cast, like Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, Paul Bettany, Mark Addy, Alan Tudyk, Laura Fraser, James Purefoy, and Rufus Sewell. Besides the Joker, this was one of my favourite roles with Heath Ledger. I remember watching this film a lot with my sisters. It was a fun movie to watch, and I loved knights too.
The film had some great action, some very funny moments, and heartfelt moments like when William reunites with his dad and shows Joycen how much he loves her by not winning one of his jousting events. These two had a great love story, and neither of them cared about the rank they were born into.
Now the film did play modern-day music, as we will rock you, and a few others, which felt weird because this film is set in medieval times. Still, this film is entertaining and fun to watch.
Everyone who worked on this film said that Heath was the best person to work with, and Alan Tudyk, who played Wat, once said that Heath and his girlfriend at the time, Heather Graham, helped him after he lost one of his friends. It shows what a great guy Heath was and how much we all still miss him years later.
Paul Bettany was once asked about The Knight's Tale, and he revealed he hadn't watched the film in years. He explained that one of the main reasons was that he misses Heath too much. I can understand it's hard to lose someone with whom you had a strong friendship.
The Knight's Tale is still a childhood favourite of mine, and I have to be honest, when I watch it now, I get sad because Heath Ledger is gone, and I wonder what life would be like if he were still alive. Knowing him, he would have been Mad Max, and he would have gone on to star in other films, and he wanted to direct, too. A Knight's Tale is a fun movie to watch if you love knights and want to have a fun time. I highly recommend it.
I give A Knight's Tale a 7 out of 10.
