Master of the Universe Review

Masters of the Universe Review

So I watched Masters of the Universe, and here's my review. I liked it a lot. It was a fun movie, and I had a good time. The fighting was cool, the movie was funny too, and the cast all did a great job. Growing up, I wasn't the biggest He-Man fan. I did watch a bit of the 2002 show, but unlike Kevin Smith, I'm being honest with you about how I feel about this franchise.
The film is basically about Prince Adam being sent to Earth, and he's trying to find the Sword of Power. Everyone thinks he's crazy until Beast Master attacks and Teela helps Adam. Adam sees how much Skeltor has destroyed Eternia, and now he must stop him and unlock the power of the sword to defeat Skeltor. The film has a great fantasy vibe, and I really enjoy the visuals, but I think it would have worked better if they had set it only on Eternia, though I get why they had to have Adam go to Earth.
Now the film's cast all did a great job. Nicholas Galitzine was funny as Prince Adam/He-Man and had some great moments in the film. They don't downgrade He-Man like they did in that Kevin Smith show, which I like. Camila Mendes was great as Teela; she was cool, and a fun fact: She wanted to wear Teela's cartoon-accurate suit, but the higher-ups didn't want that for some reason. Also, this isn't a spoiler; they are clearly setting up a romance between her and Adam. She's better written in this than in Kevin Smith's show.
I also loved Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms; he was one of the coolest characters in the film. The whole cast did a great job, and Alison Brie as Evil Lyn was great too.

Now this is shocking, but Jared Leto did a great job as Skeltor. Skeltor was so funny in this film, and he was a great villain. I could watch this guy all day, and even though I hate Jared Leto, I can't deny he did a great job. No doubt, if they make a sequel, they will have to recast Leto because of, you know, those allegations against him.
Masters of the Universe was a fun movie to watch, and I got to tell ya it's worth seeing. I had such a blast watching this film, and Travis Knight, the director, like Bumblebee, knows how to deliver 80s nostalgia. I also love the moment when He-Man shouts I have the Power. This film has well-written characters, a good story, He-Man memes, and What's Up? by 4 Non Blondes.
I give Masters of the Universe an 8 out of 10.
I have the Power!
