Paul Review
To celebrate 15 years of this film comedy sci-fi classic, here is my review of Paul. Paul is a film about two Sci-fi writers, Graeme and Clive, who go to a comic con for a holiday, but everything changes when they meet Paul.
Both of them are in total shock, and Paul explains that he has been living on earth for the last 60 years and that he has been using his face for lunchboxes, t-shirts, and more. He's also been advising the government, and he helped Steven Spielberg create E.T. It's funny to know that, actually, it was Steven Spielberg talking to Paul.
They are shocked by this, but later help, even though Clive doesn't like him at first and thinks he will put a prob in their asses. But Paul won't do that, as he doesn't get why people assume that.
Now in the film, they are being hunted by the government led by the big guy. Three agents named Agent Zoil, Agent Haggard, and Agent O'Reilly. The group drives across the state to reach a specific location where Paul will be picked up by his alien race.
They later meet Ruth, a woman who works at her father's RV camp, and she's very religious until Paul transfers all his knowledge on how the earth was created through evolution.
To me, that was the funniest scene in the whole film, as well as Paul getting Clive's passport and being chased by Ruth's dad, and he's shouting.
"Show yourself, demon!" I love that line it's so funny.
Graeme is also in love with Ruth.
Later in the film, the four of them travel together, and Ruth comes to like Paul because he saved her from the craziness of her religion. The four of them are being hunted by agents and governments, and later they meet the big guy, played by Sigourney Weaver. I mean, she has a history with aliens.
Now, also in the film, Paul goes to find this woman named Tara, whom he met as a kid, and he accidentally killed her dog and even took her dog's name. He feels bad about how her life ended up and wants to make it right with her. The film does have heart-warming moments, and as Paul says, you have to roll the dice.
It’s also revealed that Agent Zoli is trying to help Paul get back to his planet as well. As he helped him escape, he introduced him to his future wife.
The film ends with the group facing off against the big guy, and her being crushed by Paul's race, who comes and picks him up. Paul says goodbye to everyone and thanks them for everything. Graham thanks Paul for saving his life because he got shot by Ruth's dad. The film ends with Graeme and Clive becoming successful writers, and Graeme and Ruth are dating. It was funny when Ruth and Pat were sitting together, and Pat started flirting with Ruth. For a moment, Ruth considered it, but decided she couldn't, as she was with Graeme.
One of my favourite gags is the 3 tits scenes. I think it's really funny, and it's funnier in the end when they write a novel about Paul, they keep three tits. I think that gag is so funny.
Overall, I love Paul it's a classic SCI-FI comedy and it's a feel good movie. The cast of the film all did a great job and it still holds up years later. I give an 8 out of 10.
