My Superman 2 Fan Cast and Ideas with Two Storylines
Now, following the success of Superman, I have decided to create a fan cast and ideas for a potential Superman follow-up film. Now, I don't know what Gunn has planned, but there are two storylines I can see him adapting. Alternatively, Gunn said that the next time we see Superman, it won't be a sequel unless he's messing with us.
Now, does this mean we are getting World's Finest? I'd be okay with it, but they should save a team-up with Batman until before or after Justice League. Let's save the Superman and Batman team-up for later, after Batman is introduced in Brave and the Bold.
Now, for Superman, I can envision Gunn adapting two storylines that can work for the next Superman. Depending on which one he will adapt or he might have something else in mind for the next Superman. Whatever it is I'm excited for it.
One is the Brainiac arc, and it's revealed that Gunn was considering making Brainiac the main villain of the first film. However, he ultimately chose Lex Luthor, and it worked. Brainiac, I can see being the main villain of the second film if Supergirl builds that up. Additionally, there's the idea that, as we know, Gunn has said the Authority is a dream project that has been in development, but there have been no updates on the film, despite some rumors. Someone has pointed out that Gunn could either make a sequel to Superman, featuring the Authority, since the Engineer was in the first film. Additionally, there is the idea of incorporating Superman into the Authority film and adapting the Superman and the Authority storyline from Grant Morrison. These two storylines could work because they could set up Justice League.
Now here is my cast for Superman 2:Brainiac
Now if Superman 2 adapts Brainiac I would call the film Superman: Brainiac.
The film would adapt Geoff Johns' Brainiac storyline in which Brainiac comes to Earth to take Metropolis as another city for his collection. Superman has to stop him, and he learns from Supergirl that he was the one who destroyed Krypton.
Now here is my cast for Superman 2:Brainiac
David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman
Wendell Pierce as Perry White
Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe
Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant
Beck Bennett as Steve Lambord
Neva Howell as Maratha Kent
Kevin Bacon as Sam Lane
Having Sam Lane in the next film would heighten the tension between Lois and her father, as he hates Superman and she loves Him.
Bradley Cooper and Angela Saraflyn as Jor El and Lara Lor-Van
Trevante Rhodes as John Henry Irons/Steel
John Henry Irons, aka Steel, could appear in a future Superman film that will make you forget the 1997 Steel film with Shaquille O'Neal. In both stories, John is a weapon designer. He eventually builds his suit of steel and helps Superman either battle Brainiac or is part of the Authority, but eventually leaves after assisting Superman to save his cousin. Michael Fassbender as Brainiac
Michael Fassbender has always been my top choice to play Brianic, and my other choices were Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Michael C. Hall. Brainiac should be Superman's "Joker," like the Dark Knight Joker was, as he was one of the most dangerous foes Superman has ever fought.
Luke Evans as General Dru-Zod
As much as I wanted Luke to play Sinestro or Dr. Doom, that's a no-go. So, Zod is the best villain I can envision him playing; he has the right voice and look to portray General Zod.
Daisy Ridley as Ursa
Daisy Ridley looks the part of Ursa and I think she can pull it off.
Maria Gabriela de Faria as Engineer
Engineer will likely be in Authority and she did set the stages for it. So I can see her coming back if the Authority is involved in the next Superman film. Jonathan Bailey as Midnighter
Jonathan Bailey I believe has the right acting range to play Midnighter he just needs to get more buff. Jodie Comer as Jenny Sparks
Jodie Comer I can see playing the role of Jenny Sparks.
Sam Reid as Apollo
Sam Reid was well praised for his performance in Interview with a Vampire. Now Sam isn't gay in real life but again that's the whole point of acting. I think he be a great Apollo because he's a good actor. Henry Golding as Jack Cooper Hawksmoor/King of Cities
I've cast Henry before and he's a fan favourite to play Jack the King of Cities and takes over as team leader of the Authority.
Maria Zhang as Shen Li-Men/Swift
I think Maria would be a good choice to play Swift.
Phil Dunster as Manchester Black
The guy from Ted Lasso as Manchester Black I can see it because that character is a douche.
Mongul was hard to cast because I wanted someone with a deep voice and Richard Armtitage felt right to me.
So that's my cast for the storylines that Superman 2 could adapt and now here are my ides. Starting with the first idea which I call Superman: Brainiac.
9. Supergirl would be the right film to set up Brainaic
With Supergirl coming out next year, this film will set up the next Superman, whether she tells Clark about Brainiac and how he was the cause of Krypton's destruction. We get a glimpse of Brainiac, and he's coming to Earth, wanting to add Metropolis to his collection. Then there's the other idea that at the end of Supergirl, I don't know how it's going to end, but I'll keep the spoilers here. Since she often travels to planets with red suns, she is captured by some aliens who serve Mongul, and he wants to make her a gladiator/enslaved person for his tournaments. It all depends on what the Supergirl film does in the end.8. The film sets the stages for Justice League
As I mentioned, the film could set the stage for Justice League because, after Brainiac, Superman decides there needs to be a team like the Justice League who can fight threats like Brainiac, and this sets up Justice League.
7. Jimmy and Kara romance idea.
This would be a funny idea of having Jimmy and Kara have romance, but it's unlikely to happen. However, we've seen it in my Adventures with Superman and the animated series Superman. So yeah, I can see it.
6. Zod and Ursa would make cameos in the second film but only the beginning.
I cast Zod and Ursa in the film because they had appeared in Brainiac. What they could do is the opening of the film, which opens with Brainiac taking one of Krypton's cities, the most important city on Krypton called Kandor. Zod blamed Jor-El for not stopping this, but Jor-El was actually saving the people of Kandor. Zod and his followers attempt to take over Krypton, but Jor-El and Zor-El stop them, and they are sent to the Phantom Zone. Zod could be a future villain in the DCU, but it would have to be the correct type of film.5. Clark and Lois's relationship starts to get more serious and harder.
Clark and Lois's romance was handled well in the first film, and it may be explored further in the next movie. Clark is thinking of proposing to Lois, but Lois doesn't know how to react to the idea of marriage with Superman. In the next film, they should introduce Sam Lane, who, like Lex Luthor, dislikes Superman and believes he poses a threat to humanity. So, this would cause some issues, despite Lois and Clark loving each other; her dad likes Clark but hates Superman. I would have either Lois help Clark fight Braianic or she stays in Metropolis and looks after Krypto while he goes to rescue his cousin. 4. The film would show us Brainiac is respoensbile of Krypton's destruction.
One thing they could do in the next film is reveal that Brainiac was the cause of Krypton's destruction, as he didn't just take Kandor from them. He had one of his androids to destabilize the planet's core. Kara tells Clark she was told about him, and their fathers tried to save the core, but sadly, they failed. Kara hates Brainiac for destroying their home, and she wants to kill him. Clark understands her hate towards him as he threatens to take Metropolis, and Superman won't let him. 3. Superman and his cousin team up to stop Braianic once and for all.
If Superman II adapts the Brainiac storyline, Supergirl will play a significant role in the film, battling Brainiac. I can see these two team up to protect their new home, Earth, and avenge their old home, Krypton.
2. Superman 2 could be the Dark Knight of Superman films if done right.
Now, it's a long shot, but if Superman 2 is done right, it could be the Dark Knight of Superman. Brainiac is one of Superman's biggest foes, and we need a terrifying villain who will stop at nothing until he kills Superman and Supergirl. Adapting one of the best Superman storylines could work to make that happen. 1. This film needs more action and a little more serious.
I once mentioned that the film had less action and there were too many goofy moments. Which is fine for Superman, but too much doesn't work. In the next movie, they should include more action and fighting scenes. Additionally, they should tone down the goofy moments and make the narrative more serious, without being dark or depressing. It should be more serious, with fewer jokes that feel forced.
Another idea is that Superman forms the Authority or recruits them to save his cousin Kara from Mongul. That's another idea of having Mongul as the main villain in the next sequel film, too. It depends on whether the Authority movie is a standalone or if they will appear in Superman 2 first and then get their own movie without Superman, because let's face it, Superman doesn't work in a rated-R setting. The Authority defiantly works better in a rated-R setting then PG-13.
The plot could involve Superman rescuing his cousin from Mongul, who kidnaps her and uses her as a gladiator for his home planet of War World. Much like the animated series did. As for the Authority, I would make it the same original roaster from Warren Ellis run, except I would have John Henry Irons on the team instead of his niece.
The casting above those characters would be in the film still, except for Brainiac, Zod, and Ursa.
Additionally, if they decide that Superman 2 will feature the Authority, it can lead into the Authority film without Superman, or the Authority film can include Superman if they went a different direction with Superman 2.
For the Superman and The Authority ideas.
8. The Authority team is based on the original team except there is no Doctor and Steel is a member of the team before his niece.
Gunn is likely to stick with the original Warren Ellis team roster, although he might make some adjustments. If they adapt the Superman and the Authority storyline, they will likely add some of the members from Superman's team, but instead of John Henry's niece, it's just John Henry who joins the team. When Superman meets the team, he and John become friends, while the rest he doesn't like, including Manchester Black, and he still has trust issues with Engineer. However, he respects the other members, although he disagrees with their violent ways. Nevertheless, they can help him, especially Kara.7. Engineer gets redemption arc.
The Engineer was the first Authority member to appear in the DCU, and she will also appear in the Authority film. She does set up the Authority, and Superman does, at one point, try to reason with her; maybe if they go with this storyline. She gets repaired and sees Superman's point and wants to redeem herself after what Lex Luthor did. So she joins the Authority, but I wouldn't be shocked if she becomes a complete anti-hero.
6. Midnighter and Apollo are already married in the film. Apollo's respect to Superman.
Midnighter is a fan favourite, and he will likely become a fan favourite, along with his husband, Apollo. I can see a scene where Apollo, who is technically the Superman of the Authority, tells Superman that he looked up to him and was inspired by him. This is from the comics, and it would be a good scene to adapt.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a joke about Midnighter being Batman if he were more violent and gay. Additionally, I would already established that Midnighter and Apollo are married and fight crime together, but they do things more violently.
5. Mongul is one of the worst tyrants of the Galaxy
Mongul, being another idea villain, would be good because I watched Justice League, the animated series, and he was a bastard. Mongul should be one of the most hated villains, as he is utterly evil and loves to enslave and conquer anything he desires. DCU needs to, unlike the MCU, create villains that we will hate to the core. He's also one of Superman's toughest foes because he's more powerful than Superman. 4. Superman going to rescue his cousin but he's bringing a little help.
Now, if you think about it, Superman did set up the Authority in some way. Still, as I mentioned earlier, there is the idea that the Authority movie could feature Superman, as Gunn has stated that Superman will appear again. However, it may not be a sequel. The Authority idea could work because Superman and the Authority, as created by Grant Morrison, were well-received by readers. If they do that, it could work. Alternatively, they could adapt the Authority arc for Superman 2, and after Superman 2, Clark quits the team with Steel, and the Authority does their own thing because Clark disagrees with their methods of saving the world by any means necessary. He recruits a team that has killed people except for Steel.
3. Take inspiration from the Justice League episodes with Mongul.
I remember watching Justice League, the animated series, where Superman is forced to fight for Mongul, and the planet War World is under a red sun. We see Superman fight Mongul to free the planet from tyranny. That would be a good idea for the film. We see Superman fight without most of his powers, but he doesn't back down. 2. We see Superman go beast mode on Mongul
One thing I would love to see is Superman going into beast mode, and I've seen it in the animated series. Just imagine Mongul pushing Superman so hard that he goes into full beast mode. He does hold back his anger towards this guy, who has done terrible things with no remorse, because even Lex Luthor has good moments. It would be a good scene, but Superman also realizes he can't give in to his anger, as he would be no better than he is, and he won't kill him. The Authority would kill him, and that's what led Superman to leave the team and decide he wants to form a team of heroes who don't kill.
1. The movie can lead straight the Authority film without Superman and can set up Justice League.
Now that plans for Justice League are underway, this sequel to Superman could serve as a setting point for the Justice League film, and the Authority film could also set up Justice League if Superman is involved. If Authority is going to be its own film, that's fine too. We have to wait and see what Gunn does with setting up the Justice League. That's my Superman 2 Fan Cast and Ideas.
Let me know what you think?
What do you want to see in the next Superman film.
