Casper Review to Celebrate 30 Years of this Film.

Casper Review
To celebrate 30 Years of this film.

To celebrate 30 years of this classic ghost film from my childhood, here is my review of Casper. Casper the Friendly Ghost is a ghost who's not scary and doesn't want to scare anyone, unlike his uncles, the Ghostly Trio, who are the best part of the film. These ghosts are so funny, even though they are jerks to Casper, they are still amusing.
The film is about Casper wanting to have a friend in his life until a greedy woman named Carrigan discovers a rare treasure in the haunted manor. However, Casper's uncles scare her, and her lawyer, Dibs, played by Eric Idle. One night, Casper learns of a ghost therapist named Dr. Harvey, played by Bill Pullman, who has a daughter named Kat, played by Christina Ricci. I met her once, and she's so lovely, and I told her I watch Casper every October, and she loved that. So Casper gets Carrigan's attention with this Dr. Harvey, and she hires him to help get rid of the ghosts.
As I mentioned earlier, the Ghostly Trio are the best characters in the film.
They are so funny and they are likable despite being dicks to Casper.
They were voiced by Joe Nipote as Stretch, the late Joe Alaskey as Stinky, and Brad Garrett as Fatso.
However, we see that the Ghostly Trio does care about Casper and helps Dr. Harvey reunite with his late wife, whom he wants to see again. At first, it looks like they won't do it, but at the end of the film, Havery's wife tells him that they did keep their word and brought her back to see Dr. Harvey again.

My favourite scenes are with Harvey and the Ghostly Trio because that's a funny scene, especially the bar scene. Which does end badly, of course.
The film featured impressive special effects for its time, and the ghosts appeared particularly well. The cast of the movie all did a great job, and the film had some heartfelt moments. However, this film did have a lot of swearing for a kids' film. Which felt forceful at times.
The film also delves into Casper's origin and how he died young, but became a ghost so his dad wouldn't be alone. However, his dad found a way to bring people back from the dead. The ending of the film is that Carrigan turns into a ghost. She has no unfinished business, Kat's dad is a ghost, and they bring him back to life, which they wanted to do for Casper, until Kat's mom returns as a ghost and gives Casper ten minutes of being alive. Casper and Kat dance and kiss, and he turns back into a ghost, scaring everyone at Kat's school.
The film ends with the characters partying to the theme song of Casper. Overall, Casper was a great film from my childhood, and I still enjoy it. I give a 7 out of 10.
It's a good film and a cult classic to watch every Halloween. I do hope they will reboot Casper, but I'm not sure if it will happen. DreamWorks had plans to do a reboot with Universal, but it never came to be. However, I've heard Peacock is planning a Casper TV series that will have the Riverdale/Sabrina treatment. I'm not sure how people will feel about that.
Happy Halloween to all my viewers!!
